The Cheese Thread

I like cheese. I eat it on crackers, on sandwhiches.

My favorites with crackers lately are:
Gruyere
Jarlsburg
Good ol' cheddar

And it's gotta be on a nice buttery cracker, nothing fancy.

On sandwhiches, I'm a provalone guy.

What do you like?

For me, cheese is more like a condiment, not a side dish. I like colby, and I used to love mozzerella until I tried making some mac and cheese casserole style with it. It didn't turn out so great, and it didn't agree with my stomach. I haven't touched the stuff since. I generally stay away from cheeses like provolone, swiss, etc. And given my stance on cheese in general, I don't go for any fancy stuff, either.

This brings to mind Monty Python's the"Cheese Shop", and begs the question, who cut the cheese?:D

Alas, I love cheese too but fear I am allergic, I have to take my cheese in limited doses. And extra sharp aged Cheddar is a great place to start.

I see you're in new jersey ... next time you come to nyc, you MUST check out Artisinal Cheese. http://www.artisanalcheese.com/

great restaurant (which i haven't been to) and amazing cheese from all over the world (i've indulged in a few of their over 300 kinds).

a friend of mine had over 20 different kinds of their cheese at her birthday party--she's nuts. most of it things i'd never heard of. all of it was amazing. intense varieties of blue cheeses, sheeps milk cheeses, raw cheeses, cheeses infused with herbs or truffles. holy wow.

also great is murray's cheese shop in the village on bleeker street.

both places sell the cheese at the peak of ripeness--ready to devour right now.
