Now that right there is worth the price of admission to see and hear.

Well, the concerts are free(w/ free refreshments @ intermission), so I guess the audience gets what they paid for, but yeah, it's a great bass for a UB sound. It's especially nice with tape wounds, which will be going back on it soon. I'm trying to decide what brand of tapes. I had D'Addarios b4 but I'm looking at Pyramids-a little heavier gauge. In other words, I'm as confused as ever.

What scale length do you need for that, GP?

GHS re-released their tapes that are flatwounds under the nylon. The higher tension of the flatwounds may be what you have in mind if you're thinking about heavier gauges? The tension on my D'Addario tapes is not very high (around 134 pounds).

While it looks like a short scale it actually takes mediums-which seem to be a bit hard to find.

Yeah medium scale string offerings are kind of limited but not as limited as strings that fit a Danelectro ....

The D'Addarios come in medium and so do RotoSound nylons. Others are either too long-lotta waste-or too short. La Bella makes a medium and I like the gauges so they're a maybe. Never had an opportunity to play a Danelectro.

Learned of the Danelectro dilemma here at TB - the tuning machines are very small and LaBella makes strings that fit. Would love to play a Danni! Might even love to own one but hasn't been exactly at the top of my cravings lists. There's that Vox, and a pedalboard, and ... um other people to play with but hold that thought.

Read here much praise for La Bella strings. Since tapes, like flats, basically last as long as you don't change them, I've little inclination to swap out my D'Addario tapes for La Bella tapes "just to see". (and I like the blue silks)

Oh yeah I put that bookmark in a few words ago. Got me some proper motivation and structure for just what I want to be doing at the moment. It takes the form of Music Theory for the Bass Player by Arianne Cap, dead tree edition with an online music theory hootenanny.

And it is asked - do published writers have to be all 3D interactive with their readers these days? Somewhere over on another thread someone asks how to learn a new song the old way. And that has to do with rewinding cassette tapes or dropping the needle on the record over and over and over until the song sinks in.

As one who listens to a lot of songs, it seems to me a technical matter of informing my body of what I hear and getting the two to match. Unless one is the kind of person who pushes the "walk" button at the crosswalk again because it's certain that other person didn't do it right ....

This is what you have sitting in the corner of your richly-paneled den alongside the fireplace. When the opportunity arises, you strap it on, plug into your Rumble, and create a magical sound. Beautiful, GP!

nicely played, Dog, but it's obvious you didn't envision the Vox VX50 BA over in the corner for the times no one wants to drag all that tasty gear out.

My new amp day has arrived! Played it a little bit tonight, hoping to mess around with recording it tomorrow. In the meantime, here's a pic with the bass I plan on using it with for a while:

I also have a slightly bigger combo amp that is my main rig - unfortunately I've only had a couple of opportunities to gig out with it, but it passed with flying colors - GK MB112 II:

Wow! hiero! Your main rig looks pretty lightweight, but the Vox & U-bass must feel like it just floats in transit. Hmmm, guess I need a U-bass to complete my ultralight rig!

My bride once worked at a casino in Laughlin CA that booked Tiny Tim and lots of other similar-era acts and she found him to be very kind and gracious during their frequent inter-actions. Not so much with some of the other shall-we-say artists of advanced age.

Gig tonight-full group(yay!)-@ American Legion, Port St. Lucie, FL. Pretty much our only semi-regular venue where I can turn up the R200c. Played there once with the 200c and 112 cab. A little too much for the room. Sure did sound good though.

I'm not usually one to gig with a combo, but as a registered member of this club I felt like I should do something about that. In the spirit of pics or it didn't happen here is my humble set up from last night:

As most of my sound is going to FOH the Subway DI takes care of that and the Rumble 30 was plenty for me to hear myself. Helpful too that our drummer plays an electronic kit. The Rumble is a nice little combo - plenty of bang for the buck and the kickback design is really handy.

Very nice, mikey! Kudos for gigging the combo, and a little 30 at that!! Musta had the drummer turned way down. Kudos to him for being so understanding.

I, too, love the kickback design for combos. That's something, I lament, was left off the newest Rumbles. Fortunately, my B-DEC 30, with kickback design, still does the job for smaller venues for me.

I gotta hand that to my band mates. No volume wars going on with us! They are definitely a pleasure to play with.
