Thanks! Yes indeed, good eye. I had read somewhere about poplar having a weird greenish hue (and mine did initially) but that it was possible to darken it by leaving it out in the sun for a few hours. No shortage of sun in Texas so I let it sit out in the backyard for an afternoon and the green was gone. After that, a few coats of tung oil before assembling and it's been that way since.

I ask because I have a poplar body P knockoff. Warmoth body, Mighty Mite neck, hardware and pickup from a '90's Peavey Fury. I never knew you could get rid of the green by leaving poplar in the sun. I like the multicolor of your bass.

Love my GK MB112 Combo but need a little bit more oomph for gigs.
The GK powered cabs are the same price as the amps here in the UK so it made sense to buy another amp rather than a cab.
Running both off my Zoom B3. Sounds awesome and more than enough volume now too!

I have the MB112 as well, great small gig and rehearsal amp. I also had thought of the 112 powered extension, you can join two MB112 combo's in the same fashion....getting 400 watts?

Not in the same fashion, no.
The B3 has two outputs, so bass into the B3 and then one output to each amp.

mj2, I predict you're gonna love that dog as much as you love combos! Our dog, growing up, was named Ginger, and other than white on the nose, was the spitting image of your pooch. Who knows, maybe it's a v2! Enjoy and thanks for sharing.

BTW, the "little jewel" performed quite well at today's bluegrass jam with up to 14-16 other musicians. One of the early guitarists told me, "You wouldn't have to mess with all them wires if you had an upright bass."

LOTS of fiddles, a few guitars, a few mandolins and one banjo. I kept the tone very clean and full without boominess, and the volume fairly low. My favorite fiddler/guitarist wasn't there today, so it was up to me(!) to try to keep this herd of catgut scratchers in time!! That early guitarist seemed to know more of the songs than me and he played loud, so I mostly followed him. After it was over he shook my hand and said, "You play good. Thanks for coming." Ah, vindication!

GP, is your daughter from the Midwest? If so, I feel sorry for her. We're about to get hit with the brunt of the cold air coming down from Canada. Kind of like Rush showing up in '74, but not as much fun. I'm literally planning my day around the temps and snow. Another canceled day today, with Tue/Wed/Thu school hanging in the balance. Friday looks good to go because it'll be 16 degrees above zero...practically summer! 'Doggie, you hanging in there up in WI? For goodness sake, don't burn the VX50ba for warmth, especially since it's not wood!

So wouldn't ya think GK would sell the powered cab for a wee bit less than what you can get a full-fledged combo amp for? I haven't checked US prices, but is it the same here too? maggs, I like the route you went with the two combos and B3. You've got an automatic backup if needed and it didn't cost you any extra.

Not using them as powered cabs really. The B3 is the preamp with two output channels, one for each amp. The amps then operate independently from each other. I can also set them up differently if I want.

I've wanted a Vox amp since seeing "A Hard Day's Night" in '64. Even played thru a borrowed Super Beatle in '68 (along with my entire band). But I never envisioned the VX50BA being the one I'd own, much less it being a two-finger carry!

Well of course work sends me to rural Kansas in January and to Fargo in February. Without these life-enriching experiences my associates would have never know of my weather-induced Tourette's Syndrome. One step outside and it starts. Bonus points for a rental car with no ice scraper.

My daughter was born in WPB,FL. My 'bitter half', however, is from Milwaukee, which she describes as having 2 seasons: winter and 4th of July.

I was in a band doing High School concerts, 70-72. Our guitarist had 2(!) full Super Beatles. That's 2 heads and 2 6x12 cabs. I was playing a Vox Continental Organ into a Leslie mic'ed into my Kasino 200W, 2x15 bass amp (which I still have), the bass man had a 'Peg V4B w/ 2-2x15 cabs, the drummer had 2 bass drums, snare, 3 mounted toms and 2 floor toms plus a 'shipload' of cymbals. Then there was our PA: 4 Altec Voice of the Theater utility cabs powered by a Crown DC300 w/ a Binson Echorec. BTW, we was LOUD-and clear.
