I feel compelled to comment on the Fender Rumble LT25, especially in comparison to the Vox. It is, of course, interesting to me as a very affordable modeling bass amp, especially having some of the same, reportedly amazing, presets as the Studio/Stage with, I assume the same circuitry and software. I eagerly await the owners' reviews to come.

However, I can't say that it yet appears in the same class as the Vox VX50BA for portability with great tone. The Vox is half the weight and twice the power! For frequent relocation, that says it all, for me. No, the Vox isn't in the LT's tonal league. But, rather, it's in a league of it's own for lightweight and heavy sounds.

Very good points made, Sir Dog. More likely comparing an apple with orange if size specs are compared, which is something most of us do when shopping. Each has unique attractions and I was in no way attempting to say one was better than the other. It'd take someone who could get their hands on both for a while an do an A-B comparison, but even then it probably wouldn't reveal anything other than they both do their designed jobs well.

While I will agree that for portability, the Vox wins hands down, though it's not like the Fender is my old Ampeg combo crushing the scales at 90+ lbs, tone will be in the ear of the beholder, and if the price is concerned, the LT25 comes in $30 less at regular cost and $50 less at the sale price Musicians Friend is currently offering. Both have 8" speakers and the 25-watt difference amounts to a 3dB increase, which will offer a little more headroom, but not much difference in perceived volume.

End result is the Vox is perfect for the situation you find yourself in, especially being able to haul it without hassle, and the 'lil Fender may keep me from being evicted from my own house! It's a win-win!

So who gets to keep the two pennies?

Standard TB reasoning runs something along the line of "own the most powerful (read: loudest) rig to cover every possible gig". And what I find may also include "not every paying job needs 1000 watts". (yes we require payment for service QED) If I can get in and out with a gig bag and one hand free ... I'm good with that!

"Coffee shop carries" may be one way to put it.

My friends "back in the day" carried their Kustom tuck 'n roll (100 watts?) with that massive cab to for the good folks at the Loyal Order of Water Buffalo lodge 26. And in these modern, now-a-go-go days we see our own CC members gigging similar rooms with 50 watts and and a single 8 inch driver. Um.

Just a bigger kind of coffee shop, really, except the soda pop they serve often lowers patrons' inhibitions to the point they might even dance. Who can say who's listening closely and what does it matter when everybody in the joint is happy?

It's a good gig, by my reckoning.

Personally I feel more heft than the little Ampeg BA108 is called for in a Coffee Shop Carry gig. It's an amazing amp for what it is and sees more than its share of use. Every reason to believe there are plenty of choices for heft for a Coffee Shop Carry. See ^ upthread. These are cool gigs going on here!

True. Our Elks, Moose, VFW, American Legion, etc. gig crowds are generally 55+ people who are very cautious about potential DWI's and really aren't impressed with big, honkin' amps and PA. As long as it's(relatively)clear and not too loud, they listen and 'dance'. My Rumble 200c is seeing less and less play time as my R40 will cover most rooms. And we never have FOH. Next Sunday we have an outdoor gig where I'll take the 200c and prolly my powered mixer/cabs PA. First time they'll have been outta the house in about 1 1/2 years. [guess I better test them]

Hey GP! Yeah, I skipped a breath when I saw the amounts. Not much savings to get the combo, but then again, maybe they’re really packing those babies up with HQ goodies.

I was maybe interested in the ELF head 'til I saw a demo that told me it wasn't gonna give me the sound(s)I wanted. Oh, well, back to the drawing board.

Ahh, the drawing board is half the fun! I must admit I haven't listened to the demos, but from what I've heard from past user demos, I thought the Elf came across as having a lot of latitude when it came to sound options. I'll definitely listen to the recording now.

slapshot, how ya doing? Welcome to our humble group of bass combo aficionados. Very nice pic. If you'd like a membership number just let me know and I'll add you to our band of merry musicians. BTW, what's that bass you have there? Looks like a Les Paul cut. Didn't know they made one for the bass. Or is that possibly another brand? Regardless, it's a fine-looking rig ready to play some southern rock or swampy blues. How close am I?

Ahh, the drawing board is half the fun! I must admit I haven't listened to the demos, but from what I've heard from past user demos, I thought the Elf came across as having a lot of latitude when it came to sound options. I'll definitely listen to the recording now.

Playing the Elf here clean and largely flat, plugged straight in from the bass. Because part of me is still fiddling with the tone knobs on the bass. A passive bass is still somewhat strange to me and I'm finding it easiest to play with the tone dimed and make my tweaks on the amp. Not that twisting knobs actually does anything useful at practice volume at home.

What I can definitely report is the news my bass and amp can be heard outside at minimum gain and maximum volume on the Elf. It sounds to me the C4 opens up nicely with the Elf. Just no present use for an Elf combo. That doesn't mean never. The BG-100 combo is as slick a unit as I've found ....

Oh! Geez! I lost track of who is handling the rings!!

For that matter, are we still giving out the sterling silver signet rings, or is the new invisible club ring now the standard?? And which one has the secret decoder? I've never found it on the invisible one, but I think I saw the button on the silver one; I just haven't tried it out, yet. And did someone retrieve the missing rings from that little bra... uh, ... kid who took 'em all, back about a month, or so, ago? I get so confused with these short time promotions. My sterling silver ring is so heavy I never wear it anymore. And, I gotta admit, that invisibility cloak works so well I gotta feel around to see if I'm even wearing that one at all! If they ever get that cloaking field to extend further than just the hand, it could have some practical applications. But, I won't rant about the "one-handed bass player look", again.

Mrs. Dog requires that I wear her ring, and I've vowed to do so. But, I'm just basically not a jewelry guy. I want my fingers free to fly across the fretboard! Somebody else has got to do the rings, I'm sorry. Bling is not my thing.

Since the comm badge is linked thru subspace to all The Clubhouse access points and amenities, I just make sure new members get those. I even keep mine in a pocket, 'cause it reminds me of my gramma's brooch. (Sure am glad we replaced that big old pin with the little molecular nano-grabbers, though! Whew! That was NOT comfortable!)
