The Combo Club

Oh GP, there you go again. Creating a fantastic vision of a musicisn’s perfect day. You have a ton of right behind you so have a blast and rock your bass!

PS: will there be food???:)
No food; we got rained on. Typical FL weather. Had to move under an overhang, by which time the rain stopped. Some gear now in garage in front of box fan.:banghead:

Oh no! Tell us the Rumble was spared from the precipitation. There wasn’t anything you could do about that anyway. Keep us posted the next time you have one of those outings.

GP, it’s folks like you keeping the rest of going. My claim to fame this week has been completing correcting assessments, finishing report cards, and gearing up for a second round of conferences starting Thursday. Hang in there!

Our summer reggae gig involves a notable absence of shelter. We've had to open up a 40'x40' tarp to cover in a downpour. I hate that gig, but the band is good and it's money.
I've chided our fearless leader about it ad nauseum. I quit one year after finding a replacement. 4 gigs in, the dude quit, due to musical sensibility differences (they had an argument mid-set)... to be fair they're not an easy crew to work professionally with. But I came back to bail them out. We also have some loyal, family-like fans, so it was homecoming ("where have you been??!!") When I came back.
Eh. I'm doing it.

FL rain is different from a lot of places(so I've been told-I've always lived in FL). We can have a little bit of very light precip yet when you look up, no clouds. The cloud it came from has moved away so just a small amount of dampness on the amp-like someone had sprayed Windex or something on it. I draped the cover on it, moved my bass and mic under the one tent they'd set up for us(there were s'posed to be 2)and continued. We thought it was over. We was wrong. After a brief cessation, the rain returned. Not a downpour, but enough to make us shut down, semi pack up, and move then set up again. All of which took about 35 minutes during what would've been a break. Once we were set back up, we played straight through approximately an hour and a half-no second break. And we lost roughly 1/2 the crowd during the delay. Fun night.:rollno::banghead:

Got to test drive the combo in a live setting for the first time last night. I’m impressed. Sat well in the mix and the dual overdrives brought the thunder.

This is what happens when people are detained from spending quality time in their favorite club. That’s okay, everyone needs a break. Now back to scribing!

I’ll start. Hellish week finally ended, 2 1/2-day weekend, still lots of h’work, but also some downtime. Played my soon-to-be-for-sale SX PJ bass. Have tried everything but voodoo to coax decent tones out of it and gave up today.

The good news is I’m packed up and heading to school with my Jazzer in tow. Gonna demonstrate low frequency to three inquisitive classes. Using the Rumbler 100 and looking forward to a little educational noodling. I’ll try and get a couple of pics. And no, there will be no Oobleck within 5,000 ft of my rig. It’s a rider in my contract...

Most likely a late start in the morning due to severe wind chill. We haven’t had a five-day week since 2018, I believe. But it’s March and that’s all that matters. Temps will be going up sooner or later. Good luck to those down south and out east with your lousy weather for the next day or so. Stay in and play bass!

Okay, who’s next to jump into this new week and say something interesting? How about a new song or two you’re working on? I’m bringing with me tomorrow a couple of uke tunes I’ll be jamming on after school; “Count on Me” by Bruno Mars and “I’m Yours” by Jason Mraz. Love ‘em both. Maybe I’ll add “Electric Funeral” just to add some levity.

Have a great week, Combo Club!

Great set of pics, GP. I think I can tell why the dude in the summer image has the beach to himself. Man, the bug shot was disgusting. And here I thought gators were the problem...sheesh!
They're called "love" bugs 'cos that's the "G" version. They fly...uh,...mating. Their 2 reasons for existence are to make more lovebugs and commit suicide on your vehicle(Try getting them off the front of a cabover Freightliner):vomit:
