The torch is passed. The Rumble Studio 40 has earned it's place in the regular Sunday morning gig with today's performance using the amazing #9 "Deep Rumble" preset. What a sweet air when gently caressed, yet a thunderous sound when plucked with purpose!

Hmmm, wonder if the Studio's "Deep Rumble" would have been a match for yesterday's upright? Hmmm, maybe next month...

Of course you now are obligated to explore all the potential connectivity between the Rumble and the Vox and submit the usual tech report (you know I’m just kidding, right?).

Sorry, Ghosty, but it's apples and oranges between the Studio and Vox to me. I still love the quick & dirty li'l Vox. But the Studio is much more complex and variable, plus a little heavier/bulkier (thank goodness the phone app makes it so much easier to use).

Likewise, as for connectivity(?), the Studio's got that in spades(!) while the Vox ... not so much. My Vox VX50BA isn't just a head, like @Doctor Intrepid's MV50. It's not designed to connect to other amps, unless "Dr. I" can teach me something there.

But, should have said, if church soundcomrade has no time to connect POST(!) XLR Out on Studio 40 to FOH, then can continue to use FOH ¼" plug (that was used for B-DEC and Vox) into left channel (mono) FX Send, no?

However, occurs to text soundcomrade today about new Studio 40 with XLR Out. Dedicated soundcomrade is always goink to church off hours to tweak setup or rearrange multitudinous cables. So, is leaving plenty time between now and then to arrange connection for Studio! Unless, of course, soundcomrade's day job at People's Industrial Complex is requirink muchnik overtime. Then is usink ¼" from FX Send, until maybe next week.

Looks good together. Hey, you promised that the Vox would be part of your playing-out family for at least the next 50 years. At least, I think that's what you said as you were opening up the Studio 40 box! Ah, you'll find a place for it at some point, or sell it to a newbie looking for his/her first combo. That would've been a great way to begin the journey with.

Hey folks! A lost weekend between the usual and the granddaughter's 5th birthday party. After h'work today I did sneak a couple of hours of transposing and playing in. I'm sure you've all had one of those afternoons where everything you play sounds great. That was me today. Every model's tone fit just right for whatever I was playing. It was so much fun I told Mrs. FL that Sunday afternoon bass will be on my agenda...unless I'm correcting essays; then everything goes on hold.

Hey 'Dog, I found a model I liked today while playing Another One Bites the Dust. It was #33 Motown. It went perfectly with the song's vibe too. I dunno, everything I dialed in sounded fantastic. I've put enough time into this Stage 800 to declare it, for me, the best overall bass amp I've ever played through. Ya noticed I didn't say the best combo," but the best amp...period. I don't even mind when the amp mocks me for still being behind the learning curve! It may take a while to master it as I proclaimed I would, but I'm enjoying every step of the way.

Sounds like the club is a happy place to be in, currently. Have a great week, everyone.

It's not combo related, so that's why I didn't get into the details. Anyway, in order to throw more money at my failed amp project I bought a 300 Acoustic head to use with my two Eden cabs. I had the cabs up for sale on kijiji - Canadian CL - for over a month with no interest. So I saw the Acoustic on Ebay and it was really inexpensive - 130 USD shipping included. I wanted a new Peavey 208, but thie Acoustic was cheaper all around. The good news is that I will now have two fully functional 'band-sized' amps. So I can leave one at the practise space and one at home and have less stuff to move with each practise. That will allow me to take more than one Hofner to practise at a time, which is my real addiction .

I know you’re a Hofner guy. I’ve owned a Rogue VB100II, which was my soulmate until I let it slide out of a chair after a gig and crack the neck, and a Epi Viola that I never could warm up to and sold it.

Long story short, I’ve got arriving tomorrow a new VB100 and case along with a set of LaBella Beatles flatwounds. I’d love to try the Ignition, but decided to take the money saved in the difference and do a little tweaking with the Rogue. I hope to hit pay dirt once again.

That is quite the ensemble of bass equipment to sooth the savage beast, I must declare. Also, your ‘shopping skills continue to impress me. I’d like to request we take everyone’s bass amplification images and place them in front of the famed garage door of one GP.

For goodness sake, do not even try to lift that Kustom Kasino, even if it’s a JPEG! You need your strength to haul around your new Studio 40. ​

Yes - I've gone combo! And I'm loving it! I don't gig out anymore (on a regular basis) and have toned things down a bit (approaching geezer status) and wanted to simplify my rig, but still have many options and ability to get loud if need be. Well this new Blackstar U250 does that. 250 watts through 15 inch Emminence Opus speaker. I can get everything from crystal clear high headroom with serious thump to full on fuzz and everything in between. The chorus effect is very good - I do use a boss ceb-3 occasionally but now I'll not need that in the gig bag. Octave effect is fine, but don't really need that. My favorite setting for now is "classic" voicing with the "6550" response - flat eq and fine tune with tone on bass. Super sweet sounding setting on my jazz!

Count me in as a member - so glad I "downsized"!

I agree. That's another thing that led me to this amp. I was so close to buying a Rumble 500 but after a demo at local GC with the Blackstar, I was sold. Love the look of both amps!
