Yes, the Vox is plenty for the bluegrass jam this Saturday. But, the Studio is being groomed for permanent church duty! Just gotta get an XLR connection instead of the ¼" the B-DEC and the Vox use. Altho, guess I could use the left channel (mono) FX Send if an XLR isn't available, right?



Actually, I already have a working footswitch, the ULT-4, that I've been using with my G-DEC and B-DEC, but it's buttons have different labels. So, I've already requested the magnetic overlay for my footswitch that updates the button labels to Rumble/Mustang terminology!

I believe the 1/4 will work that way, but I’d go with the XLR, especially if you have any interference issues. Get one and you’ll have it for life.

But, should have said, if church soundcomrade has no time to connect POST(!) XLR Out on Studio 40 to FOH, then can continue to use FOH ¼" plug (that was used for B-DEC and Vox) into left channel (mono) FX Send, no?

However, occurs to text soundcomrade today about new Studio 40 with XLR Out. Dedicated soundcomrade is always goink to church off hours to tweak setup or rearrange multitudinous cables. So, is leaving plenty time between now and then to arrange connection for Studio! Unless, of course, soundcomrade's day job at People's Industrial Complex is requirink muchnik overtime. Then is usink ¼" from FX Send, until maybe next week.

No roadies, teenage grandsons! But, for the right gig, even I could schlep this rig. You may be thinking that Bassman head is a backbreaker, when it's actually the lightest thing in the picture at just 17 lb.s, even lighter than the Rumble Studio 40 at 19 lb.s! The Bassman 115 neo is the heaviest at 54 lb.s (note the casters).

Until this week I would have considered the same rig, with or without the Vox in place of the Studio, by slaving the Rumble 500 to the Bassman 500.

But I've always been a sucker for STerEO, since my first cheapo record player back in the '60s. I put a detachable speaker on each side of my bed and listened for hours. But, I couldn't understand those early Beatles songs with all the instruments on one side and all the vocals on the other! What's the matter with those guys, don't they know STerEO in Britain? Even today it irks me to see stereo speakers bunched together!

You’ve reminded me of a buddy in The Acoustic Club, @StereoPlayer.
He Loves stereo also and his rigs attest to that.

Here’s a couple of quick shots of the Fullerton Elks gig last night.
The Elks are volume-shy at this location so I brought an amp that doesn’t look so loud.
When I turned it on I thought, I’m gonna half to crank this puppy....wrong!
I hit the first test-note and thought, Yikes too loud! It was fine, just looked a little too modern for the setting, but because it’s so small it kinda disappeared into the background.

Setup featuring soundman Randy far left and son center. Randy brought in a nice Turbosound system that worked great w/o volume hot-spots.

Randy told me at the end of the night that we were hitting 90 db on his meter, but because of the wide and even dispersion of the vertical arrays no one seemed to notice. Not one volume complaint (rare for the Elks).

Two of the places we play that are not cramped are a VFW(tonight)and an American Legion(next Saturday). At both I use my R200c(though I could use the R40 tonight)and our PA consists of 2 'Daisy chained' Bose L1's. We're our own 'soundman'. We estimate a level b4 we start. They let us know-trust me-if we're too loud. We start off softer than we need to be. They'll politely ask us to turn up("we can't hear you")as opposed to "yer too vjfkjht loud!".

Thanks. It was. Just for grins I took my EpiBird 5er. Hadn't played it out for awhile-it's 10+ lbs. I shouldn't have taken it. It sounded grrrreat. IDK why it did, but I'm not complainin'.

... Yesterday, I attended another local Bluegrass Jam, where I always attend in dread of someone bringing a standup bass and relegating me to guitar. (But if they are willing to share, I'd be happy to give the standup a shot!) ...

Augh! The dreaded day arrived at yesterday's Bluegrass Jam, a standup bass (complete with player) showed up! And the ultralight li'l Vox was no tonal match for the upright. But, in truth, the diminutive upright player was very gracious and offered to switch off every song, or every 3 or 4, whatever. She was even agreeable to swapping instruments, though she said she would need a lesson, or two, on bass guitar!

However, this jam was missing some of the usual best players! And a couple of the better ones left early! I really didn't have my heart in it, either, though I did strum a 6-string and sing backup on a few tunes, trying to get into the swing. Alas, the feeling waned and I didn't even swap basses, this time. Maybe next month. (sigh)

The torch is passed. The Rumble Studio 40 has earned it's place in the regular Sunday morning gig with today's performance using the amazing #9 "Deep Rumble" preset. What a sweet air when gently caressed, yet a thunderous sound when plucked with purpose!

Hmmm, wonder if the Studio's "Deep Rumble" would have been a match for yesterday's upright? Hmmm, maybe next month...

Oh, you're talking about my Fender MP Starcaster bass! Took me a while to widen my focus from my new Fender Rumble Studio. Why, thank you. I do get lots of compliments on the looks of that bass. And I have no complaints with it's smooth tones and no fuss passive p'ups and short scale. I highly recommend it!
