The new Max 150 looks good and one of the demos I've seen sounded good. But, WHY do the demo-ers hafta show off so much!!! I'm 'auditioning' the amp, not the player. Aaarrrggh! It would possibly pair up well with my R112 cab. Anyway, I went out and bought beer.
<ADDENDUM>That Peavey looks cool and weighs less than my (older) Max 110. I certainly don't need another amp, but I seem to be having a GAS attack. Maybe a coupla the beers will make it subside-or I'll get to the point of forgetti.....oh, look, a gecko!

Any dividing line now between the territory my PJB combo (with or without the extension) can cover and what the Elf can cover is as blurry as your memory of those history class film strip lessons. The PJB can get pretty loud but not death metal loud or stadium loud. Loud any reasonable indoor gig loud.
Paired with the PJB Compact 4, the Elf gets respectably loud. But the C4 really only opens up with more power. So, I reckon, a medium duty cab made to work with 200 watts. That's all the TE line, and a few others before we get all nobby with bou-teeque stuff. The TE 1x10 is a pretty easy lug but lose that huge bottom end that comes with the PJB <evil grin>

I’m retired, but pretty busy during the day. Care for my wife until care-giver comes at noon, then running house and her medical needs errands and such.
I used to be at a local Open Mic every Wednesday as co-host/house band, but my wife’s needs became more demanding and I’ve been twice in about 6 mos.
Tonight I have a rehearsal (IF I can get away) for an annual Special Olympics type event at Cal State Fullerton. I usually get to take some big-iron for that gig, so it’s a fave.
I’m just so used to having multiple band-irons in the fire that being forced to slow down for my wife’s sake almost gave me whiplash.
I’m usually at least monitoring here several times a day, but not always do I have anything intelligent to say.

I'm certainly not referring to those in a situation such as yours, merely a feeble attempt at kidding those who work day gigs(FL). Bless you, my friend. You’re the spouse the rest of us hope we never need but are so grateful to have. My mom took care of my dad, who was struck with MS in his fifties, almost two decades before he needed specialized care. I told her that her stairway to Heaven awaits, but Dad will be waiting for her, not Robert Plant.
GP, you don’t know how I envy you. Our little school trio played for about an hour on this song we're doing for the school talent show. I could’ve spent all day doing that. Fun, laughter, and darn good playing for the initial rehearsal. Enjoy each and every day for the rest of us!
BTW, the Rumble 100 performed admirably. Sat in perfectly without being too out front, yet notes rang out where everyone could hear them. What a wonderful hobby/profession.
I made a decent living playing 6 nights/week in Miami, '75-'83. The weekend gigs I do now pay less(and the $ are worth less), but I still enjoy doing it prolly 90+% of the time[not counting load in/out]. Luckily I play with 2 very talented guitarists and a drummer who often doesn't play loud enuff!GP, you don’t know how I envy you. As much as I love my 200c, I still think I mighta been well served with 2 R100s, run together when needed. If the "Prize Patrol" ever finds me, I might get a couple and see. For now, I know which venues require the 200 and which ones I can use the R40. Unfortunately, this Saturday's gig is a new one for us so I'll take both and determine which one to use once I check out the room. No biggie, plenty of room in the van.
I’d guess regardless of how $ you make now compared back to the day, you still enjoy playing as much now than ever. Because if not, then why would you be still dragging your equipment all around? Music is all the motivation I need, but a couple of extra shekels in the pocket probably doesn’t hurt either.
I used my 100 yesterday in our school’s music room (probably 700 square feet) and I thought even the tone was really clean it lacked some heft. Though I remember the 15 in the 200 puts out a wallop, I just thought the 12 wasn’t pushing enough air. I had the gain at 10:00 and the volume about the same, so I wasn’t cranking, but the combo sounded smaller yesterday than usual. It sits small on the floor too, like the 40. I need to bring out the 800 and see how that sounds. Again, no complaint about the 100s tone. Very pleased.
This just in: bass-playing son to purchase pop’s Ampeg head/cab tomorrow. He’s getting in a new group and needs more than his BA108 II combo. Now I’m down to the 800 as my only true playing-out amp. Hmm...what to do?
