The Combo Club

I'll see your ribald and raise you a saucy with this cheesecake snap of my BA108 dressed for a night out.

The buttons came forward in "time" with me from an era when people seemed to give me buttons. The "Nobody for President" button is a gift from an actual Hollywood producer (no couch casting!). It is Wavy Gravy who ran as Nobody - "Nobody will end war, Nobody will lower your taxes, &c)". The Shakedown button's origin is likely forgotten but possibly from Tower Records in West Hollywood. There is a large blue "Peace" button with a white dove that seems to be MIA (figures), and yet-to-be-pinned "High Society of Boston" pin :: laugh ::

These baubles once graced the grill cloth of my

aw you guessed
Peavey TNT

but the Peavey's gone long live the Peavey. Gave it to a friend's son with a "pay it forward" agreement. Kid can really lift that thing, wow. Watch it go out the door on his shoulder with mixed feelings of relief and sadness. He says it's loud.

Gentlemen, the lady sure has style, doesn’t she? Now go ahead, M, and explain to the under-50 members who Wavy Gravy is!

Thank you iagtrplyr! I reckon I like the Rumble 100 combo best because it's so light (22 lbs) and sounds so good. It easily keeps up with the loudest of my three bands in rehearsal, The Dock Ellis Experience, which includes an electric guitar, drummer, singer, and multi-instrumentalist (mandolin/guitar/banjo). If I didn't already have more powerful gear I'd have gotten the Rumble 200.

chupacerveza, I’m telling ya, we’re like two peas in a pod. lb for lb, it’s my fave amp, though I wish I didn’t have to make the wild tonal adjustments like I do no matter what venue it gets played in. I’m kicking around nodding the amp, but these Vox combo lovers are weakening me by the minute.

tell me about it o_O Here I am probably over-thinking how to ultra-portablize an Elf mini-rig for small rooms when for a touch less can own a Vox and just take the Elf + Compact 4 for a large-ish medium size room. Yeah, that's it. Medium size room. With an Elf and a 4x10. Or. Elf and a PJB Cab 47. Sure the Cab 47 is pushing some buttons here that apparently are perfectly happy to be pushed. Which leaves room for a Vox VX50BA ... <-- point point

VOX already make a higher Wattage NuTube head & combo for guitar. Maybe if the VX50BA sells well they'll develop a MVX for bass:

I’ve thought that as well, KBD. The reviews on the 50-watter have been pretty darn good so how hard would it be to build a gigging version for bass.

BTW, thanks for your latest review of the combo. All I kept thinking was the Vox saying to itself as it entered the pawn shop, “I better sound great or that’s all she rode!”

So you’re saying we should cannonball into the deep end together? Hmm...I’ll see if I have my swim trunks available.

Or mod the Rumble 100? Pick up the Ampeg BA 108 v2 and mess with it a little? I have ten days until my b’day to decide. After that I have to paint GP’s garage for him. Says in the contract...

But I’m telling you, ya don’t have to wash G’Dog’s car or change the tubes in his Kasino.
Don't worry, I wasn't planning on making G-Dog's life easier. Or any other dog's life, for that matter.

I'm a cat person.

Or that new smash hit from the rooftop of the veterinarian's office, "Don't Put Me Down!"

I will be away around about your birthday time Mike iagtrplyr so I will have to give you your birthday card now I guess. It's a tad early but I'll blame the postman for that lol.
The card incorporates the birthday guests Jakob, KBD, Morri, myself and you too Mike. Those party guests were chosen for the card because of their pictures either on record with the Club or taken from their avatars. The reason for their choices will become obvious when viewing your card Mike. Unfortunately we couldnt find a decent image of you, the birthday boy, so we used the one with you and ya sunglasses on standing next to Rev. John.
Happy early birthday wishes for the 13th. Thanks to my lovely wife Christine for compiling your card. Click the link to receive your birthday wishes then press PLAY. All members welcome too.

Oh, no! Exactly what I didn't want to happen! I'm not worthy! Well, never underestimate the Aussies!!! I thought I was safely in cognito. But, nooOOoooo! Geez, Louise!

Now, you'll have to get all the other Combo Comrades into the movies, too. Because it's all these great guys 'n gals together that make it such a great club.

Come on, everybody! Post a sad pic and say, "I bet I get zero likes" NO, wait, that's spacebook. Oh, nevermind. This could go on forever.

Thanks, Giffy & Chrissy, uh . . . I think. You really shouldn't have. (blush)

ps: I did recently celebrate a birthday, so I'll take it in that spirit. Thank you. :)

Just came in to see what the day looked here on the forum and this really sweet gesture blew me away. Thanks to both Mr. and Mrs. Giffro for the longest distance present I have ever received. I can honestly say that I can can-can better than I thought I could!

Then Christine outdid herself with a G’Dog original. I think of him as our club’s “secretest” agent ever, but he’s definitely superest too!

You seem to be in a great mood, Giff, and have added a very positive spirit to the club of late. Keep up the good work.

As for a new pic, I will ask #2 to shoot me (literally?) with my next bass acquisition in the next week or two. I’ll try wear my monocle this time.

This club is a hoot and I love being a part of it. You’ll all be my busy summer’s chill pill and entertainment.

Long live the Combo Club!
