The Combo Club

Yes, indeedee-do! You are now Combo Club member #137. Congratulations on making a wonderful choice in deciding to hang around with whenever you're in the neighborhood. A little secret...we're all related. Yep, we're all brothers from the same parents except for our lone sister with the too-hot-for-Television bass. No one here will ever admit it, but I've seen the birth certificates.

Welcome aboard, adk teleman,

Fearless Leader out.
Thank you much!! I’m honored to be in such an august group!

and the pickguard on that ABG is amazing!
Thank you! That was the first thing I changed about the instrument. It came with this one:

Thanks for the pic there Biggy..i'll make sure you get a feature spot in an upcoming Club JibJab...wish I had a fraction of that hair loll you need to change ya nic...bighairygoodlookinman

Ah well maybe a new Morrighan mug Tuesday, getting my hair done that afternoon ... My avatar pic dates to April 08 :wideyed: What is not visible in the picture is it was taken only days after coming home from 23 days in the hospital and rehab. :nailbiting: (It was brutal) So yeah pretty good spirits there to be out and about. The idea for a dedicated music stool came to me during rehab. It arrived the day I was sprung and been using it since.

Pics or it didn't happen

The Ampeg is perched on top of the PBJ C4 and there's an Elf on top of the 'Peg until my BG-400 ships <shrug> from Ireland. No hurry really. Pretty easy.

Biggie, the hair alone will be worth the price of admission. I'd lawyer-up in case it's not what you're expecting.

Say, do you still own a Hofner? I saw your sig and figure you'd be a good one to ask. Doc Intrepid too, if I remember. I bought a Rogue VB-100 a few months ago, but am now just getting into playing it. I'm seriously convinced a guardian angel is possessing it because I'm coaxing more beautiful notes out of it right now than my Jazz bass. I can't put the thing down. My question is, with me b'day coming up in a week, do ya have a fave small combo you like with your Hofner? Any previous or current owners are welcome to chime in as well. I'm now thinking of buying something specifically to handle the ton of low bass coming out and yet tweak a little bit more highs out of it. I'm using Labella 760 Beatle Bass Light Flats (which are amazing, BTW). Throw me out an idea if you have one. I'm looking at between $100-300 smackers. I'm leaning towards the Foxy Voxy, as I call it, VX50-BA, but I'm wondering if someone's played through something with this little wonder that they liked. If not, feel free to wishing me a happy birthday before you get back to playing bass...thanks to all!
I love the tone I'm getting now, but I'm not sure if you would or if you would want to incur the expense to get it. My tone is the result of running my Vox CL head as a preamp into a Peavey Max 150. What I would recommend is a 15 inch driver. Seems to be the best fit for a violin bass.

Totally see the reasons for a tone like this.

Ah well, yes.

Cows, always cows and one really doesn't have to look very far for cows. Cows are a pretty big deal, just ask Invalid Link Removed. <- morrighan clue So they gave the kid a few coins and off she goes to find Magic Beans in the form of two shots of espresso.
