We interrupt the club with an important news alert: I goofed up. More at 11:00...
With all this flurry of new members (which I dearly love), I accidentally gave adk teleman (originally #102) the membership number, 137. Why? Because I'm old, feeble, and on vacation. Ah, it happens now and then and now I finally understand why I get the 99th-floor penthouse suite, use of the club car, and seven-figure income to do this job.
So, as I sit down here at Command Central to figure out our new members, relax and know that I'll fill 137 before heading onto 139 and bypassing JDPsma along the way. Thank you for reading, now get back to whatever you were doing.
I leave you with this pic. The funny thing is there were no lights on in the room. The glow came from Above.

I've come full circle from the mid-to-late 90's when I had an SWR rig just like it. Redhead & Son of Bertha. I love this combo...ha ha...of speaker sizes. Thye both complement each other very well. This rig replaced my beloved Mesa Venture 2x12 combo, the mini-fridge! Damn sneaky Brit anyway...
KJ, I finally found a minute to get to your membership and here it is. You, my bass-playing friend, will officially be known as member #137. With this, you'll be the envy of your block, score a date with that cute girl in Algebra, and be the Big Man in the Clubhouse. And if you're a 38-year old, balding gent, forget the second one. One final update and I'm off to nighty-night. BTW, Doc, I did watch the vid you linked on the Hofner fuzz. I thought it sounded pretty good and there wasn't one drop of bottom lost. I noticed though it's discontinued at least here in the states, and it sold on sale for $263 from a $300+ retail price. Yowza! Are they still available?

We all got threads and threads about threads and threads so old they've got hair on them about driver size and bottom end. Wampters, foama and grandfalloons, all of it. My PJB BG-400 + Compact 4 delivers that bottom end, big and phat. With only the 200 watt Trace Elliot Elf and the C4, reliably informed my bass is audible 50 meters outside the house with my volume at 1+
The PJB Roadcase packs double the power of the Suitcase Compact with a third more drivers .... it's got to be astonishing. The two up-firing drivers are pretty slick, too, IMO.
There's a TB'er here with a Roadcase (forgotten who) and he says his is so powerful he's only taken it to a couple gigs.

I just moved to Iowa about 3 months ago, so I'll see you're farm and raise you a hawkeyes jersey.
I've got nothing against modeling amps, they just didn't occur to me as an option. When I was last playing a lot, they were still at the stage of sort of doing everything you could ask for, but doing it all poorly, so when I thought to myself "alright, time to go get a giggable amp," they weren't even in my thinking, but I should absolutely go give one or two a shot. I'll go check out that Stage 800 today. I'm up in Cedar Rapids, so it may require a drive. Every time I go into the local guitar center for something bass related you'd think bass was an instrument I made up to screw with them.
Thanks for the suggestion. I honestly never would have thought of it.
You people are just being silly now. It’s a combo amp, for goodness sake. How else could I be in the club? Mike Tyson...really Giff? You could’ve guessed a stapler!

Great reply, Rhaco. Welcome to the state of corn and water! I’m guessing you’ve docked in Ia City studying astronomy. Don’t know if the CR GC will have the Stage 800 but it’s worth the look. I absolutely agree with you on your modeling thoughts. Trust me, I’ve owned modelers on and off for the past 20 years, always with mixed results.
That said, this is the best so far. Perfect? Nope, but easily the most listenable and full featured too. 40 lbs of thunder and accessible with your phone. Love that feature. At least give it a shot and if you’re not happy you won’t get a grumpy response from me. It’s an eclectic taste, no doubt.

I was digging the specs on this 'til I got to the weight.
So for a combo, do you prefer a single speaker or 2 (or more) speakers? Which is actually more efficient? I have not had a decent combo since I owned a Peavey TNT150 about 100 years ago. (ok it was more like 25)
You'll get all kinds of opinions on this. I prefer the available depth of a 15"-I can roll off lows if need be. My favorite sound many mango seasons ago was 2x12", but right now there isn't a cab that fits my criteria-price, tone and weight.
