You know me only too well. Actually I did have a back spasm this morning as I was bending over cleaning a spill. Hurt like the dickens too. I’m not used to this sedentary lifestyle I’ve recently inherited. And then grabbing my birthday present box from the UPS guy didn’t help. I don’t know if I’m welcoming 59 years of age or dreading it!

As for a fiver...no thank you. I have enough trouble stumbling over four strings! Plus, after a decade of getting used to this fretboard I’m not going to add another blooming string and mess it up!

It's nice to have access to a few extra notes[5]though I don't use my 2 5ers very often. Had I known about 'octavers' b4 I bought my first 5er, I'da gone that route. Cheaper and fits in yer duffel. In fact, the only pedal I use at all is my EHX Micro POG[Poly Octave Generator] The B string does make a very nice full length thumb rest.

Yikes! Yeah, surely, Shirley, , an ABS housing could take 20-30 lb.s off that 84 lb. weight, depending on bracing needs. Would that be light enough?

I assume that "PJB Neo Power" speakers are as lightweight as other comparable Neos?

Perhaps Fearless Leader is in need of new monocle? Or is just wishing too hard! PJB link clearly says 84 lb.s to me, having had eye exam just 2 months ago. 20/20 (corrected)!

Certain that's a real 84 pounds and not some weird metric pounds or something. The built-in wheels and telescoping handle may mean "easy enough" on level ground. It's that place with the ladder to the trap door for the stage inside the chicken wire that's a bummer.

That's always the rub right? I replaced the stock casters on my stack with those high strength rollerblade wheels (the best 20ish bucks you'll ever spend btw) and the thing glides over concrete, asphalt, even tight grass with almost no effort . . . right up to the stairs of my second story practice area . . .

I believe my weird Uncle Mortimer beat you to that. He often used two monocles! Sometimes one in each eye at the same time. Other times he would use one of them in one eye as a magnifying glass or, other times, the other one in the other eye as a telescope. He called them "bi-focals" but, his wife always said he was just making a spectacle of himself! He was a very strange and often brilliant man.

You are correct, sir. The owner's manual, in the "Speakers" section, says 74 lb.s. But it does not give a weight in the "Amplifier" section.

And a brief survey of various online retailers finds them fairly evenly split between 74 & 84, for those that give a weight.
Therefore, I withdraw my ridicule of your eyesight and commend you on your more in depth investigation than my own initial review.

I accept your proposal, kind sir, and know I would've gotten along great with Uncle Morty! I about blew a 74 lb chunk when I read, "Sometimes one in each eye at the same time." No matter the PJB's combo weight, it's way too much for 'lil old me, but I wager it sounds quite impressive. iriegnome, please be a good chap and test out the Roadcase in Chicago, if you have a spare moment, and report back ASAP. The 74 pounds could be the amps actual weight, and the 84 pounds could be the shipping weight.

Great minds think alike, gsg. Regardless, it's expensive, heavy, probably sounds super-de-duper, and is expensive. Perfect for Morrighan to grab for weekend gigs at the cottage!

I took a shortcut and went with the first weight I saw. More than the combined weight(s) of my R200c and R112.

Checked it out his afternoon with the Jazz and all it took was an open E note to know exactly what I was playing through. I love me my Fenders, but Ampeg is my amp, no doubt. And with Yamaha picking up the financial reins, who knows what'll be coming down the line in the next few years.

After tightening everything with a screwdriver and checking out all the jacks, I set it on my Gramma pad, which was exactly the right dimensions, and set off for Nirvana. Both volume controls at around 80%, tone at about 10%, and heart a pitter-pattering, I enjoyed every minute of noodling. I might consider a little foam insulation, but I'm not tinkering right now for sure. Want to break in the speaker before any slight mods occur.

With this birthday present, I officially announce to you that I am done buying combo amps for 2019. Yes, you read it here first. I now have my favorite small room practice amp back; I have my practice/small gigging combo in the Rumble 100, and my take-no-prisoners Stage 800. I'll just mess up the cohesiveness if I add anything else to the mix. So that's it. I've purchased at least four amps since April 2018 and it's time to rest. The only exception to this iron-clad promise is if I sold something out of necessity and had to replace it with something else, but that'll never happen, right?

Interesting. What is 'right' for one, isn't for another. I had an older BA-112. Thought I'd love it, didn't. Traded it for a set of PA speakers/cables. I definitely got the better part of the deal, but the other guy was happy so win-win. I, too, am done buying combo amps for the foreseeable future. Unless, of course, the State picks the right 6 #'s-which I have. For my B'day in August, my gift is making it to 74.

Great reply, Rhaco. Welcome to the state of corn and water! I’m guessing you’ve docked in Ia City studying astronomy. Don’t know if the CR GC will have the Stage 800 but it’s worth the look. I absolutely agree with you on your modeling thoughts. Trust me, I’ve owned modelers on and off for the past 20 years, always with mixed results.

That said, this is the best so far. Perfect? Nope, but easily the most listenable and full featured too. 40 lbs of thunder and accessible with your phone. Love that feature. At least give it a shot and if you’re not happy you won’t get a grumpy response from me. It’s an eclectic taste, no doubt.

Keep us posted.

Couldn't find a good place to try the 800, so I bought it. This weekend either it, the blackstar, or the eden gets to make the official trip to the music room, and the other two turn back into UPS' problem. On the upside, after all this, there'll be some good open box options scattered around the web.

+1 It’s definitely a subjective subject, isn’t it? I suppose that what makes amps so much fun. As for your BA-112, you had what many considered the best of the version 1 combos, so if you didn’t like it then it proves that everyone’s ears are unique.

May the State choose your six# and soon. I wanna read how you contemplate your next purchase.
