Giffro presenting a strong Exhibit A. All I have to defend with is my boyish charm...
Do you like the tone of your Vox? I'm not sure if the Pathfinder will produce better tone than what I've got, but I thought it was a worthwhile experiment. I may be able to purchase the Peavey TNT I mentioned in my first post, and it is a great, but heavey, combo. I won't find out about that until later.
Yes it's a 2001 Bassman 25. Still works.
I've gone through others over the years(the Kasino, a "Fridge", a couple of Peaveys)but my first Real amp was a 64 blonde Bassman. I later got a second one. I sold both when I got outta the business in 83. Wish I had them back-they're worth about 10 times what I sold them for-but I'll take my combos. They sound great and they're easy to move in&out on our 1-nighters.
I don't own the amp I was mentioning and for that matter, have not heard it live. My thinking was based on what I've read about the Nutube technology trying to mimic tube sound, but will last thousands of hours. I've had a couple of lower-range Vox guitar amps and liked their sound. I may end up agreeing with you that for $99 you're gonna get limited sound. I know the TNT weighs a ton, but if you're not planning on moving it too much you might like that better. Thoughts guys?
GP, I'm wondering because I've read many say they wish they'd have kept their vintage stuff for today's value, but i wonder had you kept the blondes, would you even think of selling them at this point? Me, of course, but you seem to be a man of class and distinction. There may have been some battling going on in your brain trying to make that decision.
Yup, it says Bassman but being a 2001, no lights.
IF I had them, I'd be sitting on about $5500. As for what I would do with them it would've been nice to have that decision to make. BTW, when I had that SVT and 810 cab, I was working a steady gig. It went on stage, sat there for 50 weeks, came out for 2 weeks vacation and back in for another 50 'til the gig ended(hotel lounge in Miami Beach)

This what I love about Talkbass in general, but this particular club. The knowledge and history that you veteran musicians bring is incredible. I never get tired of reading up on "back in the day," and appreciate the great comments left for all to read.Talk about steady work...50 out of the 52 weeks. Those hands of yours must've had calluses on top of their calluses!
Oh BTW, unless someone can save my bacon on the Bassman lights or no lights debate, I respectfully withdraw my claim. No doubt, it was the Rumble sporting the disco lights.

So even I was partially wrong thinking that the V1 100 Rumble was the only amp that Fender included the disco lights on...the V1 Rumble 60 also apparently and you could turn them off at the rear of the amp. I continue to learn all the time..although my wife would disagree..lol
ps. Its that boyish charm we like about you iagtrplyr and your skill at managing this thread while cutting lawns..lol

I'll take a number. My main gigging rig is a GK MB212-ii. Kicks total butt.
Well, I dunno about boring. The Miami Beach gig was Summer of '80 to Spring of '82. The gig before that was 6 nights a week, March of '75 to July of '80. You could actually make a living as a musician-w/o being a "Star"-back then. Now the band I'm in averages 1 gig/week for less $ than I made 40 years ago.Plus, Summer in South FL is the off-season. My next gig is 7/6(or 6/7 for Giffro-LOL). Next after that is July 20, then ??Wow, your life was boring, GP.

Amazing though isnt it GP. Its about the same here in Oz, where I made more money back in the 70's 80's and 90's than what I do now for a 4 or 5 hour gig. Its a crazy business lol

You're not pedantic at all - we do the same thing, and the difference causes a lot of confusion.
I try to spell out dates for that reason. July 1, 2018. I may be confused but not about that.

That date order thing does get confusing. At work they had us set up our computers in this format:
Seemed odd to me at first but then it actually made a lot more sense than what we had been doing. Goes from left to right from largest to smallest units, so YYYY-MM-DD. Basically the same way we're used to seeing numbers written.

Actually, that's the world standard for representing date and time - ISO 8601. Most of the world adheres to this standard, although it can be written differently in everyday language. The USA uses the ANSI standard, and is, AFAIK, the only country in the world to do so.
