For me, the PJB rig is both a statement of my personal commitment in picking up the bass again after retirement, and a treat after what feels like a love/hate relationship with my old amps. That I even kept my bass through thick and think is probably statement enough. I only miss my 15 inch cab in the same way I miss thinking about where it came from. Not so much where it went.

The Fender Rumble 500 is the amp that came most highly recommended when I started asking around here about a proper rig. And there's a lot to like about it, even just visually. The PJB just sort of fell into my hands and all are pleased. Except, perhaps, the players who wanted me to see for myself just how good the Rumble 500 really is.
Let's split the difference and say the Stuporbeetle has a 9".apparently there's no such animal

That’s hilarious, M, and I totally agree. When the dang neck is wider than the body I have to respectfully say, “NO!”
Just for grins, I checked-4 string TBird=1 1/2", 5 string TBird=1 5/8"(same as a "P"), 5 string Les Paul=1 5/8, Ibanez AGB200=1 5/8. All at nut.
My fingers know when I’m 1/1,000,000” wider than the Jazz’s 1 1/2”. I know you’re thinking, “it’s only an eighth of an inch difference,” but I can immediately tell the difference on the lower frets. I’ve sent a formal complaint to my hands’ attorney, but negotiations have broken down.

The narrower string spacing on the 5 banger I tried at the brick and mortar had my fingers totally confused.

I have to say, it ain't just the width. The profile on the EpiBird 5er is very different from the Les Paul 5er. And because the bridge on the LP is farther back on the body, it almost feels like a short scale whereas the EpiBird feels longer than the 4 string TBird, but isn't. LPB25/67 Tbird/EpiBird 5er
Beautiful pic there, GP. Oh, I know there are many facets to the neck and it’s specs. I began as a guitar player and I find thinner, skinnier necks more comfy to play even though I have long fingers. I’m getting so used to the short-scale neck on my Rogue I may never play anything larger.

My first real bass* experience was with a Gibby EB3. Skinny little neck. It's a part of why I've stuck with(mostly)Gibson/Epiphone products since. The stretch for frets I can deal with considering my short-ish fingers. Thick, wide necks, not so much.
