The Combo Club

For those of you lurkers out there who enjoy dropping by for a friendly combo chat now and then, please consider joining our merry band of guys and gals here at the Combo Club. Submit a pic of your amp(s) or complete rig, scribble down the notion you'd like a number and I'll take care of the rest. We treat everyone the same, from Ampeg to Zvex. No matter what you own, how old it is, or even if you like your combo, we are just happy to have you be a part of what we all love...combo bass amps! :hyper:

Just curious how many of you out there use an extension cab with your combo? I use a 1x 12 extension cab with my WA. Tell us about your set up.

I have a Rumble 210 extension cab that is pretty much permanently attached to my Rumble 500c in my Music Room.

I also have two more R210 cabs and two R112 cabs. I guess that I could play mix and match, but I really haven’t yet. I intend to at some point. But then I have a Rumble 500 Head and a Trace Elliot Elf, also.

After my youngest goes off to college in a couple of years, I would like to find a band and maybe start playing out again while I still can. Instead of just jamming with friends every once in a while.

For my old rig, I had a Behringer BX4210A that I used to use a Sonic 115 extension cab with. They worked quite well together. They still do. It was actually a pretty good rig. It sounded good, much better than TB would probably have you believe. It had some juice, too. It could keep with two guitars, drums, a keyboard, and horns. I gave that rig to my son-in-law because all he had was a very small combo practice amp. He’s pretty happy with it.

Nice! So are you able to run the 500 with the 3 2x10’s at once?

No, but I was reading that there is a device that would allow such.

I got the 500h when they were discontinued for a backup. I was looking for a deal on another 210 to be able to have a full rig, and ran across a deal on two of them that the feller would only sell as a pair. So, I wound up with three. (Insert wife’s eyeroll here.)

I guess if I wanted to get wide open I could chain the 500’s and have a Rumble 1000 8x10.

I did the 'open mic/jam' at the H-D dealer yesterday(no gig last Sunday-slight hurricane). Used the same rig-Gibson LPB25>R200c. Close to same settings on bass and amp; didn't sound as good. Hmm....Ah! Horn switch got bumped 'on' during setup. Switched it 'off'. There it is.

That’s a good one, GP. You should be happy with that fact you can still hear the difference and know to switch it off. Imagine those players who can’t tell the difference!

The Vespa shirt did it.

Just ordered an ebay used Fender Rumble v3 40W combo. Read so many good things about this combo I can't wait to plug in and get at it! For home use I've always preferred convenient combos over separate head/cabinet rigs; t'is easier to move one thing out from under my desk for playing than two, and a small head can easily get knocked offa the top of a speaker cab when moving things around too! I like to keep things simple and easy, y'know? ;>})
Greywoulf

Sure, I'd like a club number. Will photo the Rumbler 40 when it arrives too.

Hey, there, @Greywoulf! I see on another thread that you traded in the Rumble 40 for the Rumble 25 due to cabinet size. Well, whatever works for you. Just keep on Rumblin'!

We'd still like to see a pic of your new rig, though.

I have two full stacks, and I am exclusively combo now. :roflmao:

Stunning collection of amps and basses :) Ive played thru both of your stacks but never side by side. Both are amazing from what I remember. Do you like one more than the other? Curious on your thoughts of these two combo stacks?
For me, they're fine. The Mesa stack goes louder and deeper. Unfortunately, I'm done with comparing amps, cabs, looking for the holy grail, etc. It was too time consuming, expensive, and took the joy out of playing. I'm entering the if it works, it's good enough phase of my life...:smug:

Sweet set of goodies, Coolhandjjl. That’s one rockin’ room ya got there. If you’re interested in grabbing a membership number to this exclusive club of ours, please let me know and I’ll set you up with one. Thanks for posting!

I rarely need/use my stack(R200c over R112), but when I do, the fullness-not volume-is incredible.

I really wish I could find one of those 112s for a little more coverage with my R200c. I have problems hearing myself sometimes at loud gigs, although the audience can hear me fine, even without FOH.
