The Combo Club

Sorry Rod, you gave to be at Level III membership to get the top secret “Shaving Secret.” Heck, I’m not even eligible!

I am not sure if I am qualified to spill the beans on the "Shaving Secret" but I am ready for the consequences....

There is a "Shaving Secret" for the ladies, but I can not let the "cat of the the bag" for that one....

It was a rather preposterous premise.
The idea of shipping the load of beer is less preposterous than the way they whipped that rig around corners at speed. Also, loaded nose to tail/floor to ceiling with cases of Coors would be way heavy. (I drove 18 wheelers for 23 years).

Two of the states I lived in growing up didn’t sell Coors so my dad would cross the state line to buy it... I can’t drink the stuff.

Funny you brought that up. Back in the 70s, sister’s boyfriend at the time used to be from southern Indiana. Every year, his brother used to come out to California with several cases of a great, but unobtainable in Ca, soft drink called Big Red. We’d trade him in kind for cases of Coors! :roflmao:

I had a friend that was a 'stew' for National Airlines. When she'd get a west coast trip, she'd bring me some.
The band I was in in Miami played a party where the host had a few cases brought in. They didn't last long. It was right around the time of the movie.

That's the way it was back then. It had to do with taxes for a product that was not to be distributed East of the Mississippi River.
A year or so before the movie, "Smokey And The Bandit", I worked in a local south Florida large production plant that had ties to Burt R., and Hal N. Myself, and two other guys were sent to the warehouse to unload a refrigerator 18 wheeler truck, to a smaller company truck. We moved 100 cases of bootleg Coors Beer, that was driven in for a local company picnic. It turned out there was a wager between to company VP's for acquiring the Coors Beer for the picnic. A year later, "Smokey And The Bandit". The bootleg Coors Beer never made it to the company picnic. It was anonymously found, and turned into the local federal authorities. A true story.
Okay @GonePlaid, I retract my preposterous premise comment... although I'm still shaking my head at it!

We thought it was really good(in Miami)when it was hard to get. Later, :meh:
Did not know it was a thing (I was a kid when I saw the movie, and developed a crush on Sally Field during the show). By the time I understood Coors, the silver bullet was everywhere.

Personally, I like the Banquet Beer. Don't know why it's called that, but it's an occasional summer sip around our house.
