Hi Dan here. I've had many combos. Peaveys, SWRs, Ampegs, GKs, a Rumble 100 a few years ago.Now have the Stage 800 and ext 210. Although it's labeled as a Rumble it seems totally different than a Rumble. Anyway I'll help you get closer to the 200 mark.

I could not agree with you more about the Fender Stage & Studio's "Rumbleness". They are the immediate heirs to the Fender Bronco 40 (Fender's 2nd generation bass modeling amp!), which was produced concurrently with other Rumbles, yet not considered to be a Rumble at all. And the Bronco's progenitor, (Fender's 1st generation bass modeling amp) the Fender B-DEC 30, was also produced concurrently with other Rumbles, but also not associated with them at all.

Then, suddenly in early 2018, Fender announced their 3rd generation bass modeling amps as the Rumble Studio 40 & Stage 800! Well, the Studio 40 is an obvious evolution of the B-DEC 30 & Bronco 40. But the Rumble Stage 800 is a bold new step, seeming to be a combination of the Studio 40 and a steroid-pumped Rumble 500 combo, even using the exact same cab & speakers!

But, it was such a departure from the straightforward non-modeling Rumbles that I even suggested that they be dubbed as the V4 of Rumbles. But, it was not to be and, as incongruous as it may be, the Studio 40 & Stage 800 are still classified as V3 Rumbles like the current 15 through 500 combos and even the new Rumble 800 HD head. (sigh) But can you imagine what the the actual V4 Rumbles will bring someday?!?

If I haven't already deemed it such, let's add club historian to your already-numerous club titles. I'm sure it's there, but I just want to let everyone know how much Dog's work is appreciated. If there's anything about our club, Fender products, and bass combos in general, it's at the Wiki page. Please check it out or we're unnecessarily paying this guy like three Rubles (equivalent to five magic beans) a month for not much!

I'd rather pay ten bucks and the store completely wipes out the transaction so "no one" even has to find out.

I'm anxiously anticipating the Fender modeling firmware update any night now. I'll be joining Linus out in the pumpkin patch awaiting the Great Rumble's arrival. Come join me if you truly believe in it. Good night world!

gigetto, I owned that same Markbass combo you speak of a year or two ago and found it to be quite healthy when it came to solid mid-bass, and it could get down in the lower register as well. What I liked about that amp was its versatility, as you could use it by itself for small rehearsals, run an extension cab through it and either use both speakers or just the cab, use it with headphones, plug your phone into the Aux In, and even use its XLR out for bigger jobs. Am I missing anything? It does lack preamp controls, but then again maybe it's a blessing. Less to mess with. If it wasn't for those gosh darn VOX amps with their NuTube warmth I'd still probably own it too.

When i decided to change my Peavey my reseller didn't have the Vox....it was my first choiche, lighter and more controls but cheaper in construction versus MarKBass

It was fun to mess with at home but I needed a light combo with some power for those gigs I had to park 2 blocks away. You might recall I got the Rumble 112 with the Stage 800 and I told the dealer I can't use the 112 and had him order the 210. He got that and there was a Rumble 800 HD sitting on it. Man I was tempted but figured I can get the same sound out of the Stage so resisted. I have a Quick access for the upright, p-bass and jazz bass and so far it's all good.

Thanks for the welcome. I've been following Combo Club, The Rumble Club and the Stage & Studio sub thread for awhile and it's what helped me in my decision to get the Stage 800. I haven't used this amp with an ext cab live and may not have to but it's there if needed.

Yeah, d.c., I remember that unusual pairing of the 112 with the Stage. Glad you're in safer territory now.

I agree, the 800 HD is very tempting, G.A.S.wise, even if not a combo. But your correct, your Stage can get the same sound, and multitudes of others, too! Your making good choices.

I have $500 - $600 bucks for a decent combo amp. I'm looking for one that has some "booty" to it and that offers an FX loop and has more than one speaker
like a 2x10, 2x12 etc etc....

Any advice would be awesome!
