I am going back many years to 1968, but, if I recall correctly, my telecaster had the built in mute on the bridge cover. If it didn't, I added it along with black nylon strings. That through a 60 watt Dynaco with 2-15" D140F's was memorable. Wish I had that now along with the health I had back then

Nah, I’m not as much into swapping pieces out of curiously, but moronic it needs it. I’d rather just play than tinker or spend time recording, but I respect those like our kind Doctor, who enjoy the hobby beyond making music.

Thank you, Doc, for the Ignition info and kind offer. I respectfully pass on the offer as I’m looking for a bass I can do a basic setup, swap strings, replace with strap locks, and play. If I was going for the 500/1 I wouldn’t even worry about having similar tones because I know the 500/1 would excel.
I’m just not feeling the Ignition will male as much difference compared to the Rogue. I’ve mentioned the talk is they’re both built (with a number of others) in the same Chinese factory. I may be wrong.
Found this for those interested in what the good doctor and o have been corresponding over. Hofner Ignition updated to make a run at a German Hofner bass. Very interesting, especially the comments at the bottom.
Came to the conclusion that’s it’s not what I want to buy next because I have that sound right now and love it!

Strings need changing??El, are you thinking of this as the early SCPB bridge cover? It's open on top and bottom so you can change the strings without taking it off, which I really wanted.
However, this newer stylish cover looked so good that I couldn't resist it. I have to take it off to change strings but, fortunately, that's several years between!

I can't remember what gas was back then but, it was quite a bit compared to what I was making with my day job! Of course, back then, like last month, you could drive anywhere you wanted

Recall I gave my late '60s recollections here. But, IIRC, fhis century's much higher gas prices are actually relatively cheaper in adjusted purchasing power perspective. That is, it takes less of the average income than before the '70s oil embargo. Ah! The good ol' days . . . . [/OFFTOPIC]
Still miss those Silvertone "combos" (since their speaker cords were fixed at both ends) of the '60s. (sigh) But, of course, they weren't Ampegs!

Classics in their own way, ‘Dog, nonetheless. I’d love to play through one of those nifty looking rigs just to hear what they sound like. The one in the upper right intrigues me the most because I like vertical cabs.

I’ve seen some Thor’s on Reverb and a couple of other websites. It’s kinda a cool-looking amp, but I haven’t read much about how nice it sounds. Anyone with some experience with these babies?
When I had 2 of these I'd often have the cab on end w/ the head on top of the end, esp. if there wasn't depth on the stage to tilt back Occasionally used both cabs on end, head straddling.
It also has gear to put in on its side. It still has the Stock Speakers which were made by Jensen inside. Quite Loud and heavy as hell for the one strap to carry.

You got it, ‘81! Thanks a bunch. So you’re calling your Peavey gear micro? My back hurts just look at that mountainous mass of musical mayhem! I’ll bet it sounds good though.
And the attached speaker cord was something 20'-30' long (for your convenience).
