The Combo Club

And the attached speaker cord was something 20'-30' long (for your convenience).

Yes, it was quite long. We occassionally used one or two as PA and kept the head near our amps and the cab way out front or way off to the side.

But the first ever modification, of any kind, I ever did was to "de-comboize" it by cutting that cord and putting a 1/4" jack on the back of the cab and a 1/4" plug on the end of the cord!

Add me to your group! I tried to go micro on Combo Bass amplification size and wallet impact, long before the suitcase trend!

Downlowsince81, consider yourself part of the club. You will be known forever as member #188. Please add it to your signature and tell your combo comrades that there are still more numbers to go around for interested musicians. Thanks again!

Adding Down to our membership list reminded me it's been many moons since I posted the membership list. So here it is in all its glory, our current membership list to the Combo Club. We're only 13 away from the magical 200 members, so be on the lookout as you surf the forums for new bass players to add. Much appreciated! (for your info, I began at #51, and there have been many wonderful additions since then)

If you want to get off the ground, you've got to pull back on the stick!
But not too early or too long!

[EDIT] If you push the stick forward, the houses get bigger. If you pull the stick back, they get smaller. That is, unless you keep pulling the stick all the way back, then they get bigger again.

Double yolks for the captain.

Clearly I need more controls on my rig.

No clue what he’s talking about but there seemed to be a lot of energy in the description, so it’s all good!

There are some pilots here who are all in on the joke. For those who aren’t and wonder about it:
In flight pushing the control stick (joystick) forward makes us descend (houses get bigger). Pulling back on the stick makes the airplane climb (houses get smaller). Thats only partly true. Climbing wants more energy than flying level so the climb consumes the energy you have until, even though the engine is running just fine, there isn’t enough energy left to fly. From that point on, no matter how hard you pull the stick, the energy is gone so you’re gonna descend.

And this MS Flight SimulatorTM user.

I really enjoyed "flying" the Cessna around exotic places, especially Hawaii, on sightseeing runs. Yeah, the virtual scenery couldn't hold a candle to the real thing. But, having been to a few Hawaiian islands, I could mentally upgrade those sites fairly well, and others I hadn't been to a bit.
[/OT]

That reminds me, I need to check-in with Hawaiian Fender B-DEC 30 bass combo buddy! Stay tuned. ... . . . .

Sometimes not in way you like. Puts a whole different spin on things. Many mango seasons ago, my dad and a partner used to convert war surplus Link trainers. I'm pretty certain we were the only family in our neighborhood that had a Link in the garage.

Yeah! What he said!

Oh, you fly boys and your planes. Thanks Stateside, I learned something new today. Aren’t we all glad we’re not tied down by silly rules that forces us to have to talk only combos? I mean there are worse things, but half the fun of this club is our wide array of topics and thoughts; bass-wise and other.

Carry on, chaps and chapettes!
I see what you did there.
And after I stopped laughing, I typed this note to tell you that I certainly approve!

If no one knew it was in there, was it a missing Link?
