I was at the GC thinking about getting this. Looks pretty heavy duty and compares favorably to the white Monster brand of 20 feet for $55. This is 30 feet for just $50, and mojo out the wazoo!

Then, I got a text that I'm gonna be a grandpaw again, so I hurriedly snapped this pic and ran out to tell Mrs. Dog the good news!!!!

Still thinking about the hazy purple coiled cable. Bet my progeny would do battle for it once I'm gone. (yeah, right)

After living for years with a black Fender Koilcord, another hue would do. Must admit I'm intrigued by the Bullet coil cords. No groovy purple, tho ...

Thank you, Morrighy! Yes, I'm now in my 23rd year of blessed gp-ness. Yikes!! Just realized, I could be in for ggp-ness in the foreseeable future!!!! NOoooooo!

Bullet cables they are, and purple too. They look to me like the Fender / Vox / Kirlin / Lava telephone cord design. The Bullet ( -> their Website here <- ) not to be confused with Bulitt is a loose, loopy coil. Maybe they both were loose and loopy somewhere in a projection booth. It is 1968, after all. If you're actually present to 1968 where all kinds of screwy things are going on every minute of every day, two people driving like maniacs in San Francisco probably seems pretty normal.

What's not normal that's taken for perfectly normal is bass players talking to bass players as if that's a completely normal thing to do.

Yes, back in the 60s, it seemed to me, nearly all instrument cords were that tight, tangly telephone cord stuff. Except after seeing The Beatles on Ed Sullivan, with no amps in sight, and they just pull their ¼-mile-long straight cords out and drop 'em before going to stand by Ed. So, I did buy a couple of 50-foot-long, approx. ⅛-inch diameter straight cords for use with a couple of Silvertone Twin Twelve amps as a rudimentary PA. I still have them! And, just a few years ago, the one I tried worked OK! But they're too brittle to actually trust for long.

Obviously, bass player to bass player is more friendly than lead guitarist to lead guitarist. We're OK with the idea of supporting others, it's in the job description. Most all other band members think they're the star! Hence the memes.

Perhaps the "loose and loopy" cords are less tangly. I certainly hope so! I mean, things shoulda improved a little bit, right? But the coolest new Mustangs are the ones that still look like what Bullitt drove in 1968, with fewer emissions, of course. The 21st Century sure looked a whole lot cooler back then, than it does now! They musta been showing us The Late 21st Century.

a great deal more financially digestible than a Markbass 802

I've tried to love the MiniMark 802 at the nearest Sam Ash & nope, I don't. The controls are too basic & there's no O/D.

I think the options on the controls are Scooped & More Scooped.

Last weekend I played a bass real quickly through a MV50AC (Vox's 50 Watt NuTube head) into a PRS 12" & it sounded great.
Through a Rumble 4x10" it still sounded good, but it was actually better through the 12".

The VX50BA I ordered immediately afterward will probably be here before the weekend. I warn you guys though, I'm no timbre expert. I can't describe what I'm hearing.
I do know that little MV50AC head approximates a real hybrid head very well.

Just to be sure, I drove all the way to Sam Ash yesterday & played a handful of basses through the G-B Shuttle 6.0 they have there. A real tube hybrid.
I wanted to imprint that feeling & responsiveness to compare to the VX50BA when it arrives.

I anxiously await the review of your VOX VX50BA this weekend, or so.

Of course, it'll be good to read about the comparisons to your Rumble 40, since there are many Rumblers here. But I already know the two main things about it that have me interested: 9.92 lb.s and a "Direct Out" jack on the back. That would knock 23 lb.s off carrying my B-DEC back and forth to church each week! And, if it produces anywhere near the same clean volume, I'll be taking it to my acoustic jams, too.

I 'talked' to Vox about using a MV50 head(I mentioned the CL)into my R112. They said it should work well. It's a thought for somewhere down the road.

My backup plan, if I don't dig the VX50BA, is to get a MV50 head & drive a RevSound 2x8" with it.
I do wish the MV50 heads had more EQ control.

I spoke with David on the phone about their 2x8" several months ago & at the time I had designs on using it as a guitar AND bass cabinet. Unfortunately I couldn't find the right head to put on such a small cabinet.
Now that I'm playing active basses, I don't really need a wide-range EQ on the amp, so I could probably get by with the MV50AC or one of its counterparts. I think they have 3 versions of MV50.

However, if the VX50BA sounds as good as the demos, I'll be grinnin' like I'm sinnin' when I finally get my hands on it.

The mv50 Clean has bass, treble and volume controls. Add an external o/d(which I know you like)and you'd be in high cotton.

I want my O/D at the amp, not in a pedal.
The MV50AC did O/D ok, but just a single "tone" knob.

Let me guess, Doc. Would it be a Blackstar Fly 3 mini amp to create the illusion that your Vox Pathfinder 10 is the SVT of the house? Maybe not, but ya have to admit it's an intriguing idea. So what's up? Spill the beans.
