Yeah, @GonePlaid , played around a bit more tonight...you are right- not much (or any) extra boost there. Your idea of using OD circuit and footswitch for a mute is BRILLIANT, however!!!
Thank you for checking into that further. It SHOULD do something for the Ampeg Rocket combos, as they have no preamp gain. Hmmm.

Speaking of, do you have a time frame yet on when those combos are heading to a home near you? I thought I heard May. Is that correct, Tele?

May....seems like a lifetime away!!! (Buts it’s starts tomorrow now!!!)

My tentative research and determination to get a 15” combo began at least in February..maybe a bit earlier. Looked hard at the BA115, but weight, awkward shape, and the “sort of Meh...” reviews of the “scrambler” circuit had me hesitating. Bugera seemed a cheaper alternative, and intriguing enough to spark my interest. Glad it was sold out/on back order. Also heavy, awkward, and carpeted. hmmm.
I was determined to shed some of the weight those clocked in at. I love my Rumble 40, sooo Rumble 200 seemed the obvious choice. But, I was wondering, “Is there another sound/character out there???”

MarkBass Jeff Berlin seemed cool- but, sadly out of my budget as a hobby/weekend warrior type. “SWMBO” supports my habits, but there are (reasonable) limits to my lust/GAS/insanity.

But then- You shone the light on this new series from Ampeg!!! Wow!! This is just too Karmic, serendipitous to ignore. Although more pricey than I was planning- the wait could be useful...our clinic has and has had several Saturday “mass vaccinations” that allowed me to bank up some overtime to justify/cover this acquisition nicely!! Now just the wait!!

Ive been following all the reviews of the RB108 and RB110 reviews happening- seems good so far!!! YAY!!!!

I had to sell off my Mesa/Boogie 115 Diesel (1990s) cab when I moved from Vermont out to Arizona seven years ago- Along with the old Silvertone 60w tube amp (with reverb and trem!) that was my ad-hoc bass rig- here is a shot of it with the Tele-Bass back in VT (Along with the wife’s lefty Affinty Tele)

So, it has been a long, strange, well...you know!

I’m calling Sweetwater tomorrow to get an idea of the time frame. Waited 3 months so far...I’ll be good! Whew!!!

I see a lot of use in the R10, but it's the R15 that I'm grooving on.

Speaking of long waits, my Lake Placid Blue Acinonyx shipped.

TL;DR — decided to do something really nice for myself for completing 40 weeks of Ari Cap's Music Theory for the Bass Player cohort, and that's this bass. Can't have too many combos (yes, R15, I hear you!) and can't have too many basses.

It was to have shipped with D'aD nickel rounds, as is normal. In a beyond-the-last-minute decision, shipped a new set of GHS Balanced Nickels to Nordstrand. Either Nordstrand's master luthier Mo, or Carey himself, did the setup with the Balanced Nickels Why with the BNs? TL;DR flats make it way easier for me to slouch on technique

... now halfway through the 16th week of my second round of 40 weeks of MTftBP What I just took a break from this moment was messing around with an ear training lesson from this afternoon.

Up the road a-pace is what might otherwise appear to be a sweet gig. Speaking of amps, yes. Because there's a Berklee grad and his six-stringer who have an established following, and good local bookings in a major university town. They're in their 50s and need a drummer and bassist as things open up. They're doing some really fun stuff like Jean-Luc Ponty tunes and Allman Brothers jams.

They have a Hartke combo amp in their rehearsal space. Show up, plug in, and plunk that magic twanger.

We talked and agree that, for now, an hour's drive is too much. The door is open, though, when I complete this round of MTftBP. What may come of it is most unclear to me as my world is going to shift when I visit Chicago in two months. Great uncertainty, but of the positive variety.

Barely, my bass-playing partner in crime. Tried nodding off but my snoring woke me up!

I replaced contender #1 with the second contender, the Ampeg BA-108 v2+. SR, no DI during this round, I’m gonna mic it up to the DAW instead. Should be interesting to see (and hear) what the combination produces. I think this may be my first time trying this since learning how to make better recordings.

We’ll see what I can get done this weekend. I may even try “Ya Gotta Serve Somebody.”

For the 2x10s it has a very deep full body sound - perfect for blues. We do funk

Anyone in the Combo family with more background/knowledge than me (e.g. everyone...) know what kind of wattage/sound I can expect out of that Ampeg RB 115 heading my way this month??
Rated at 200w, but only taps that with 100w out to an extension cab. Soooo. What kind of power will it bring on its own?? More for just curiosity, because I don’t think I will ever need to use the extension out.

But- Will it hang in some outdoor applications? Neighborhood block party, maybe town square (Flagstaff, AZ) situations??
I do have an Ampeg 210 cab that goes with my Micro CL rated at 8ohm 100w, so I can use that- don’t know how that will blend, however, but it will be a fun test!!
