The engineering, design, and execution — science — is what determines the frequency range of a cab or combo, respective of driver size, is my understanding. Math + more math + more math (± black magik) = glorious bass reproduction. My combo with four 5 inch drivers is rated 30Hz - 15KHz, and it's a For Real 30Hz - 15KHz. Not that I want to be playing, or particularly recording, 30Hz and giving serious thought to a second, Always On HPF on my pedalboard for -24db @[frequency]. That way if a fine sound engineer asks (tells) me to turn off the HPF in front of my VT Bass, I still have an HPF in place on the underside of the board
don't ask where (or why) I learned this

Now, THIS sounds like madness!

How do the new Rocket Bass amps compare to the old USA 90’s ones? I know of a old B-100R for sale for a good price. I own an old B-50R that sounds incredible.

Never got the chance to play through one, Mo, but the overall reviews on the Rocket Bass so far have been excellent. I know this, the weight is about half and overall reliability should be improved. I recently bought the 112 and it's fantastic. I'm running my tone controls flat with only the Ultra Hi kicked in because my room is dark. If ya get the chance, you should audition one and see what you think.

Hi folks! It's been like two or three days since I've been on and I hope you enjoyed the peace and quiet. what was to be a relaxing week has turned into a laundry list of things to do, but it's made time fly. The only negative is I haven't had any time to play, but with some rainy days ahead I think that'll quickly change.

Tele, we're all anxious to hear your thoughts, but take your time and do plenty of playing through your new combo so you can form a solid opinion. Don't worry, Morrighan will just have to wait a little longer...

Lifting some Rumbles today because

Because I took a bit of time in The Other Store

It's the size and weight of the Rumble 100 that makes me think oh yeah Rocket 12

The owner hands me the white Epi Thunderbird at my request. First time ever. Mess around the first four frets, and it's much more playable that I'd have imagined. A bit of a stretch for me, but only because I've been doing short scale for three years, and not because I'm trying to play an F# major scale down there at the other end of this aircraft carrier. And yet ... could be a very nice instrument with a proper setup.

Ask to see the LPB Squier Affinity Jaguar H — the new one with the MM pickup. 249 space bucks will take it out the door right now. The neck feels really good. Good weight, good balance ... turn it over and there's a dent the size of a nickel on the back. .... the guy did bump it when he took it down (did this just happen now?). Show it to him ... says he'll knock off from the sticker ...

dang. I bet that Squier would kill with ... well, with a pickup that approaches the cost of the bass, a new bass with a dent

Sounds like you had a fun day at that store. Glad you like the ‘Bird. Aircraft carrier is the perfect comparison, IMHO. The fact you liked the neck though impressed me.

As for the Squier, regardless of my historic OCD tendencies, if I was looking for a bass like that and the mgr sweetened the deal, I’d grab it saying to myself, it’s a character-building birthmark!

Tonight’s session was a doozy, and it’ll go down in history as a red letter day. I’ve been working on finger speed for quite a while now, and tonight was the first time I’ve been able to play a certain song, at tempo, from start to finish… finger style.

Ca-lassic tune there, Recon! If you can get the Ian Hill thumpin' E locked in four minutes, then you have opened yourself up to a whole bunch of rock 'n metal songs from the past 50 years. And for those of you who don't subscribe to the devil's music, it's not as easy as you might think to play solidly. Keep 'er going!
