Flatwound string, unless they are specifically low tension, have substantially more tension than rounds. They may require a truss rod adjustment, and a bridge tweak possible too.

I always do a setup after a string change. Truss rod/action/intonation. Pickup height not as often as I should. Once you're used to it, it becomes routine. But I do slacken the strings before each truss rod movement, which makes it tedious but I think is better for the truss rod and its nut.

This particular bass had a crap setup, but not surprising considering the sale price.
It's got the Open Pore finish, so I ordered some beeswax and some decent microfiber cloths.
I thought I'd do that while the strings are off.
Excuse my laziness, but does Cort list the stuff like recommended pickup heights, etc. somewhere on the Internet?

I honestly don't know
I want a very low action for finger-playing. I tend to start with the Fender (0.015"?) neck relief, then lower the saddles to the minimum without fret buzz. If I'm still not happy I might reduce the neck relief a bit.

I did search and find someone recommended setting the pickup to string height to 3mm & then adjust as per preference.
Apparently, there are numerous youtube videos on setting up a bass guitar - "imagine that".
Just do a proper set up on it and you'll be fine.
Hey all! I'm a Cort newbie! My Cort Rithimic arrived yesterday from the USA and is my first ever Cort. First impression was not great. I thought it wasn't going to be with me long. Then today, I got my old muso mate who works at the local music shop to set it up to my personal preference.... adjusted pickup height, action, intonation etc and after that..........WOW!

If your mate doesn't mind letting his secrets out, ask him what he did so you can do it yourself in future when you change srings, buy another bass ...Hey all! I'm a Cort newbie! He doesn't need to let his secrets out. I can do it all myself. Just FYI, when I want to go for a catch up with him, he enjoys doing it for me for free while I'm out grabbing a coffee for both of us

There are several excellent YT set up guides (one example). Jerzy Drozd also has a long PDF version that's excellent.

Setting up a bass is easier than I thought.
I don't like where the truss rod adjustment is (my StingRay 5 had the wheel adjustment at the pickup end of the neck - super easy).
The new strings I put on have a fair bit of tension of them, so I loosened up the 'A' string enough to get it out of the way, then loosened all the strings so it was easier to turn the truss rod (too much relief, especially with the new strings).
I have the relief close to where I want it, but I thought as much as I turned it today, I'd let it settle in till tomorrow.
I only moved it about a quarter of a turn, let it sit under tension for about an hour and do another quarter of a turn.
Repeat...
I basically lowered the strings until they buzzed somewhere and then raised them up just a scootch.
I think the frets are not completely level, but I think they're not bad.
The jury is still out on the Rotosound Flats, I think I might have liked the EB Cobalt Flats better.
I'll give them some time to settle, break in, whatever, but they sound fairly tubby right now.

Here's my collection, I have an old Corbow 4 with a warped body somewhere too.
Both B4's needed the output jack reversed for my G10 to work, the B4FL MHPZ had a crappy earth connection to the bridge resulting in horrible hum, so that was another thing needed doing, easy though, the G10 is great when it comes to earth hum in instruments.
I pulled it through the hole a little more and fed the wire end into the bridge screw hole, to be sure of a decent connection, nice! I also gave the preamp just a little more oomph, I might do it on the others too as there is a volume discrepancy between passive and active, and it bugs me.
I sent the A4 off to the local guy for a set up, wasn't nice to play before that.
The 18 years old A6 was slightly modified when I got it, Bartolini MK6's fitted, no volume discrepancy and, I love it.
Oh, does a Cort combo count?
It's a Cort CM150B, aka Markbass CMB121 Blackline, but at a much cheaper cost.
