The Devi Ever Effects Thread - Fuzz ahoy!

Works well with my P-Bass. I also lent it to friend who plays guitar and he liked it pretty much,but....I think he has broke it. He was powering it with some random Korg adaptor he found in my rehearsal room (I didn't notice that), although there was battery in it...At beginning everything was fine, but later we went to another room, he plugged the adaptor and pedal stopped working. When in bypass, signal was flowing through, but engaged it wasn't working, only led was on. I'm electrotechnical analphabet, but I'm not sure if that adaptor had correct polarity (later I checked it and there was negative polarity symbol on the sticker). So guys, can you tell what went wrong? What is correct power supplying for Devi Ever pedals?

Hi Jacob,

sorry to hear that mate,... it should be powered by any boss type adaptor... haven't ever had any issues with it but if you reversed polarity or you put too much juice into it it may have cooked something inside causing it to switch on but not work... I'm not very technical with pedals so all I can suggest is emailing devi or asking on her forums perhaps?

devi frequents there alot and alot of the knowledgeable guys pop in so you should be able to get an answer there for sure!

all that aside, I didn't notice that the cherry pop was gated,... interesting things to try now!

The hyperion sounds amazing on the youtube video, but it's mentioned above that you lose some low end with it. I would assume that with the dark boost after it it would be put back in a bit. I do have a blender but would prefer not using it unless completely necessary.

My question is how much low end is lost with the hyperion ? Would the dark boost rectify the problem? Does the ruiner add more lows/ low mids than the dark boost, or does the 2 db stacked change the character of the pedal completely? Would the ruiner be superior to the dark boost for "dark boosting?"

Thanks in advance for helping me understand how to get my sound. I use a G&L L2500, I'm looking for that doom sound and I plan on making a ggg muff soon to use with the 2 of them.

The Hyperion does lose a bit of lows, but I wouldn't call it excessive. It's definitely still usable on bass. But if you're going for a doom sound, I'd definitely recommend the Ruiner over the Hype. Even though the Ruiner is just two stacked Dark Boosts, it gets much more saturated than a single DB does, well into fuzz territory. Here is a demo of Devi playing "Exit Music" with it:

I thinkthe hyperion doesnt suffer from low end loss that much at all, just that it is 'tubescreamer'esque in that (too me) it sounds very mid humpy resulting in that a bit... haven't tried it in my bands mix but I am sure it would excel at cutting through... I just love the sound cos its like dirty and creamy and bitey and everything at once... could listen to devi's vide of it repeatedly!

I have watched that video about 50 times. I wonder if the ruiner would be too much after it, I'm still kind of inclined to go with the dark boost for some low overdrive to just darken it up a bit. I hope to get the hyperion soon. Thanks Ilovefuzz peoples!!
