Yes, a sphere is perfect, but a spherical object is not necessarily a perfect sphere.

Your thread title is wrong. Whilst noone calls me "The human (who is named) Matt", everyone ever has never called me "The Matt".


"The Planet Earth..." or "Earth", pick one.

OK, I am about to attempt something never heretofore observed at TalkBass: I am going to reconsider my previous position and revise my opinion.

To wit: If OP had stated that earth "is a sphere," I would continue to maintain that he is simply incorrect: A "sphere" is a geometric entity with certain properties that are only approximated by earth. However, in fact he only maintained that earth was "spherical," which I now am willing to agree suggests merely that its shape is similar to a sphere -- as opposed to, say, a two-dimensional "flat" surface.

Mostly, though, I think we all would be better off getting out our basses and practicing rather than continuing to argue about this....
