I'm sure with 5k you can get at least two,three or maybe even four Basses if you wanted to.
I'll take a plain used Ritter. Dosent matter what shape it's in, how many strings, or what woods, I'll just take a Ritter.
My dream bass is a Stambaugh six string. But that's only a couple of grand. Then again, I don't have an amp right now, so maybe a nice 800-1000 dollar rig? Use the rest to fly to wherever CT is located, shake the man's hand and thank him in person. I mean really, that's just the polite thing to do.

Probably a Sadowsky Metro. The rest of the money I would put towards sending my parents on a cruise. They deserve a vacation.

Decisions, decisions... I'd say either a Roscoe Century V or an MTD 535. Any extra cash could go towards a musical charity fund or something like that.
