And you are lucky in the US to have two Destroyers a month in ebay !
I had to ""design"" my own Explorer which was much more expensive

It's not that bad, man. I got mine on eBay. It took a little while to find a deal I was satisfied with, but I got one.

anyone know how good the quality is on an Aria Pro II ZZB? How does it compare to the epiphone Explorer bass?

IMHO, You'd better off with an Aria over an Epi.... Epi's are not bad.. At least not the recent ones I've played. Its just that Aria is 80's Japan & those basses/guitars are great almost across the board!!!

I just my explorer for a time now exclusively and got so jused to the way you play on it (arm on the body etc) that I can only hardly switch to another shape. I think I want another custom built Alembic-like Explorer..

I don't own an explorer style bass, but I just wanted to chime in to say that I'd love to have a bass with this exact shape:

Notice the banana-style headstock, which is a must for me. Although Explorers aren't the best option from an ergonomics standpoint, I really dig the looks of a bass like the one in the picture above.

There was, on evil bay, an explorer bass lamp. (made from a broken explorer). It had the original pickups and bridge on it. The headstock had been snapped off, unfortunately. It's gone now.

There is a little music shop by my father's house that has an older Epi Explorer. The guy opened up shop about 6 or 7 years ago and this was one of the first basses he got in. Its his "boomerang bass" as no matter who he sells it to it comes back. Not because its bad, just doesn't fit people's tastes.

It has become a sort of joke between us. I stop in and see him every 3 months or so, and last week he says to me: "That looks great on you, and you always pick it up. Give me 200 and its yours."(it was up for $300) So needless to say I'll be joining this club very shortly.

I'm looking into putting a third pickup in, a Rio Grande Pitbull, if it'll work by the bridge.
