Just wanted to pop in and say thanks to everyone in this thread, as I read through it extensively before pushing the "buy" button on my new (to me) bass:

Only had it since this morning, but so far I absolutely love it. Been playing a Solar A2.4 and an Ibanez SR300 alternately, but the Solar wears out my shoulder after 2-3 hours of band practice and the Ibanez just isn't at the same level. So far, this BXB75 hits the sweet spot.

I was a little concerned since my others have active pups with preamps, and this doesn't, but it didn't take much to dial in a very similar tone and get rolling.

I really want to join this group, thinking on a epiphone korina, Mbd4 from ibanez or fernandez bx5b.-....

After getting the BXB-75 (above), I stumbled onto deals I couldn’t refuse on an Ibanez Destroyer and a BXB-55.

The Destroyer (DT500?) was really neck-heavy and not much fun to play, so it was resold. My understanding is the Epiphones are very similar, but I defer to someone who has owned both… reselling it led to buying the second Fernandes.

The BXB-55 is sweet, however, to adjust the truss rod you have to remove the neck. Pretty dumb design, and not one shared by the BXB-75. Once I got it setup to my liking, it’s been a killer backup bass.

Overall, for my tastes at least, the Fernandes is the way to go.
