So I guess I should give a update about this. I did not end up have to build a V bass, I got my hands on a Burny BVB-85, rips Gibsons to shreds. Not a explorer though so I won't bog the thread with it, if you want to see it it's in my profile pict.

What does the Epi measure at the nut? I used to have a Gibson a long time ago when I was first starting out, but sold it not knowing really what I had (was big into Ibanez at the time). I've thought of getting an Explorer to add back to the collection, but I remember the Gibson being very bright sounding and also very neck heavy. I play T-birds these days but dont find them neck heavy at all, so I wonder if my memory of the Explorer being neck heavy was due to wrong strap button placement- or just because I only had an Ibanez SR-800 to compare it to at the time.

Sorry bout the late reply man been away for a while. Its 1.50 At the nut and man this thing plays sweet!

I wonder if somebody ever made a short scale explorer? Something like the ESP/LTD style explorer body with a short scale neck would be awesome, IMO. :) I know the Gibsons were medium scale, but I mean a real short scale Explorer is something I would explore... :hyper:

Why? I like them, from my experience with the Epiphone Flying V. Short scales can be excellent, no need to have an inferiority complex. The Epi Flying V is HUGE (long, although short scale) but the Explorer Long Scale bass is "Huger." That's why a short scale Explorer, for my rare preferences, would be super cool to have.

Anybody heard of something weird like that, given this is an Explorer thread?

Destroyers are medium [32"], and huge is all about perspective to one's self... I'm 6'2" so to me they aren't huge at all.

It's not my size, although I am not tall, nor tiny. You have to admit they tend to be long. I am not bashing explorer basses, though. I probably would have one given the room and money. Was just wondering about that. A medium scale one would be the next best thing for me. And a moderne bass would be super cool.
