Stuart Hamm is a god. I'm a big Satriani fan and I love the stuff he plays on his albums.

I'm also a Les Claypool kind of guy. A lot of people consider him a hack, I suppose, but he does a lot of impressive stuff that I wish I could do. His vocals, however, I could do without.

Scott Reeder from Kyuss for sure, he does such cool sounding basslines and intricate little fills and loads of variatons but never oversteps the mark and sounds like he's showing off, nor does he damage the unified sound of the band in anyway, so damn good!

im a satch and hamm fan...hell i even owned one of stu's kubickis (which i will not go into further detail on) ...but ive gotten over the whole shred thing, i still bust out some satch and vai occasionally but after watching Clappo's Crossroads dvd, George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic and Joss Stone Live Dvds, ive really re-assesed where i wanna go and how i wanna play....satch/vai and hamm are all pretty straight, still good, but i prefer groovin to soul, funk and blues...

i saw vai last year down in sydney, and, well, IMO billy sheehan over played 75% of the songs, especially for the love of god, and his tone was awful..sounds much better on the crossroads dvd, but live..ugggg...bring back phillip bynoe

WHen I started playing in 1980 it *was* Geezer Butler that gave me the push... BUT my favorite player for the first couple years I played and the guy who I learned EVERY tune from was Ian Hill of Judas Priest

Judas Priest is pretty tight, if I do say so myself.
My favorite bassist woul have to be Paul Gray from slipknot, because on the album that they produced before they got signed he really showed his talents. He even showed off his jazz skills, hes also pretty good at hammering, slapping, and popping.

What BULL**** i read on this page i don't believe. I mean you talked about everything possible **** there is! If you won't to learn what good music is you have to listen deep inside of you fellas.Good bass is HARD TO FIND!

Bobby Lylle, Kevin Eubanks, Brandon Fields, Bob James, .... those are great giants with great music BEST.

i'v just built leds in my bass neck( ibanez rb885), givin' the head a BTB look and i'v painted some parts gold

i also got a ibanez BTB 406qm, very nice bass, i love to play a 6 string!
