dont see too many posts for Donald Duck Dunn. This guy has played for everyone from the good ole days till now. Never overplays, always picks new chops for each song, listen to shake your tail feather from the blues bro's. He is very underated. Mark King was also pretty dammmmmmn good for a slapper!

He's on my list for those exact reasons. Always tatsefull, never over plays and knows when to leave space. The guy is great to say the least.

That Steve Swallow article in Bass Player Magazine really hit a home run for me!!! That guy RULES! I'll never forget when I met him after watching him play with Carla in Burlington, VT at the Discover Jazz Festival years ago. WOW!!! Just a bass and piano duet.....

John Entwistle always sticks out for me as a bassists and I love the tone he gets. He is what I aspire to be.

I have too many to list, but the one who sticks out in my mind as the best would be Les Claypool. Along with Tim Alexander or Brain with the wonderful ways of Claypool, you've got yourself the best rhythm section in the world.

John Entwistle sounded great on "Quadrophenia" but playing live, he was just too busy for my tastes.

This could easily turn into a "most overrated bassists" thread, but I am going to withhold my opinions on that score.
