Great read. A set of these came with my Squier CV 70's P and I love them. I initially took them off and tried Chrome's, Nylon Tapes, and Daddario NPS but the 7250's just have it. Once I get the 40-100 gauge I'll be a happy camper.

As far as I know, Fender stopped offering the 40-100 set (7250L) a short while ago. Only 7250M (45-65-85-105) and 7250ML (45-65-80-100) are still available.
Sorry...it looks like I was wrong about the 7250L being discontinued.

7250's have been my go to strings for years. Around a decade now.
At one point I have 20-25 packs that I was hoarding as I'd only use a pack every few years. They really lasted forever.
The other day, I broke a string (crazy, I know) and had to use a pack. It hurt haha
I have 6 packs of the old stock, black wrapped 45-105 and 1 pack 45-100.
I sold a few boxes over the years and now I'm kicking myself.
Has anyone compared the old stock, Mexico plant made strings v. the newer, I believe outsourced D'addario made strings (correct me if I'm mistaken)?

These newer package strings sound the same to me and my fender jazz and precision just sound right with them on. Best tone and response. May try on my lakland next.

I absolutely detest the clanky sound of the 7250s when they're new. They remind me of the D'Addario XLs which are pretty much at the bottom of my list of nickel plated roundwounds. But the 7250s have slightly more punch in the lower mids which makes them a bit more interesting after they're broken in.
I've realised that I actually love the recorded sound of the 7250s. I still don't like how they FEEL, a bit stiff/coarse for my taste, but I like the sound when they've lost the clank. Very robust sound with a P-bass. Sits nicely in the mix. Too bad they last so long because I really can't stand them for the first couple of weeks, lol. I guess others will se this as a big plus though.

Purchased 3 new Fender basses over the last 2 years and the first thing that I did (on the first 2) was change the strings. Not really because they sounded bad but I just have a habit of setting up all new basses with my preferred strings (D'addario or DR's) when I get the bass home).
But last weekend I totally fell in love with a new Fender American Pro Jazz 4 I found at my local GC. I loved everything about it, including the sound and feel of the strings. So it go me thinking that maybe I should find out what's installed on it and purchase a few sets. Turned out to be the Fender 7250's .045-.105.
I installed a set on my Elite Precision and love the sound and feel. I actually like them better (on my Fenders) than the DR Sun Beams and D'addario XL nickels. I guess that I just didn't give them a chance (when I purchased the new basses).

I don't change strings, I clean them but when I have to, if I buy a used bass that comes with something I cannot save, I have a couple of sets of unused "used" strings I get from an ebay seller who eats Fender basses for breakfast and sells the parts. The jealous say he "upgrades" them and sells them for silly prices but I'm pretty sure he eats them.
He usually states the strings "were shortly on Fender basses and unplayed" which I interpret to be the factory mounted strings and the same as Fender 7250's. They come in the exact same gauges and he sells them for some 5€ a set, or about 7€ for 5 string sets. They sound, look and feel just like new and I quite like them. I won't be looking elsewhere any time soon.

I try to find the Pre mexi 7250 earlier this year, but accidentally found 5 set of Pre-mexico 7150SL 40-95 from GC warehouse .
Has softer and smoother string surface than current 7250 and 7150. Even super light gauge, she has similar 7250L 45-100 stiffness and the Mid tone are pretty sweet on my pbass.
The gold silk make the bass look pretty nice too.

Sorry, I don't quite understand. Which strings sound better, the Sunbeams or the 7250s? And which ones have less tension? Thanks in advance for replying.
Sunbeams definitely sounded better and reasonably sure their roundcore is less tension than the hexcore of the other strings by design.
Thanks for replying. I just bought a 7250ML set to replace the 7150ML (which I like but are perhaps lacking in funk) on my 2008 Am. St. Pbass (fitted with "Original" 62 pickup). I was also considering the Sunbeams but in the end went for the Fender. I'll see how I like them and if not satisfied, I'll order a set of Sunbeams NMLR-45. How would you describe the difference between them?
These came on an amazing Jazz I just picked up. I tried DAdarrio (nickle rounds and chrome flats, as well as a set of Labella 760fls (which were amazing!) the bass sounds amazing whatever you put on it, but it sounds best with these Fender strings. It's gives it the tone that floored me solid when I first picked this bass up.
I just went back to GC and picked up another set of them. They're on sale for $13!!!
