I have a nicely broken in set of 7250 M's waiting to go back on my maple fb P once I do some work on it.
I'm not a regular 7250M user as such, but the last two months I've spent with the GHS Boomers is making me realize nothing works better for my tonal needs than well-broken-in nickel rounds. The next time I acquire a brand new Fender, I might stick with the factory strings for the first little while instead of ripping them off on the very first day like I've done in the past.

Don't play the electric much anymore but was beating on it the other day and those strings STILL sound great. They love the clash, kravitz, bowie, zombie.... They are the swiss army string.

Ok, I'm not a huge fan of these strings (so I guess I'll be assimilated in the club...) but I have a question to all of you 7250 connoisseurs:
Do the 7250M come both with colored ball ends and regular ball ends? I've purchased several Fender basses over the last year or so. All of them are supposed to come with 7250M. All of the more expensive basses came with regular ball ends. The cheaper and mid prices ones came with colored ball ends. I could SWEAR the colored ball end ones sounded clankier (which is what I don't like about these strings) but then the colored ones were all on the cheaper basses... I never listened to them side by side so I'm probably just imagining things but does anyone know?

I could be confusing these with another brand, but I think the colored ball ends on the Fender strings are a fairly recent addition, within the last 2-3 years. I can think of a couple of reasons you've seen both on new basses:
1 - the brass ball version is old stock, and the basses you received with those strings were made before they exhausted their old stock. Also, considering that there are 2 factories producing Fender basses, one might have run out faster than the other, and now uses the colored ones.
2 - the brass ball version is an OEM version, meaning that they are only for new instruments from the factory (and produced in bulk), and the colored ones are for packaged string set sales. In this case, it seems possible that if production runs out of the OEM version, they could just throw on a set of the packaged strings.

Suggestion 1 makes the most sense to me, different factories having different stock. That could be it. Every MIA and MIM Fender I've purchased new the last 2-3 years had brass ball ends. Every Japanese, Chinese and Indonesian Fender/Squier I've purchased new in the same period had colored ball ends. According to specs they should all be equipped with the 7250M. But I don't think the brass ones were the old "pre D'Addario" Fender strings, they can't possible be THAT old stock???
What's bugging me is that every time I got one with the colored ball ends I thought "oh no, there's THAT sound again" and every time I got the brass ball ends i thought "hm... these aren't nearly as bad as I remembered". But like I said the brass ends were mostly on the more expensive basses so I guess they SHOULD sound better.
Exactly, the strings are from the same manufacturer, so they should be essentially the same. I honestly don't recall if I noticed any difference between them, I recycled my last set of brass ball end strings last year.
I played the Fenders for years. I too found them comfortable, but I've switched back Rotosounds. Depending on how things unfold in 2020, I may switch back.
