The Fender Bassman 100T thread

hey tim1, ive just got off the ph with jeff at music machine and ive pulled the trigger on the super bassman and the 810 neo, my local shop couldnt match their price plus d.i , the nz importer has none for 5 or so weeks, so i dont know but i feel there arnt many in the country.if any. Any way should have it next week so will keep u in on how it goes, thanks again for the hook up .
oh my ashdown abm rig is on trade me if you know of any one interested.

Congratulations Chrisan, I think you have actually just purchased the only one in the country! I am sure you will be very happy with it. One of the bonuses for me is that the importers are just down the road for me so any repair work is no problem, plus I know many of them personally now. It looks phenomenal sitting on top of that 810 cab. I have always found that Music Machine do better deals than anywhere else, plus they always seem to have a decent range of stock in shop.

Freddels. I've let you down on an audio clip. And what a total lame-ass , as all I have is an analog mastering room full of gear. It's just that I have to take the train and then walk a few blocks. Not that you're not worth schlepping 60 pounds around for, but hope you understand.
Here's the thing about any clip you'd hear anyway. It's not just that the 100T is auto-biasing, you also have file steps up and down where you can under or over-bias the tubes, which yields completely different colors and heat, if you get me. So you can go from a mellow, round, warm thing all the way to fast aggressive (and tube wearing) with 8 steps in between. And you can do it rather on-the-fly if ever needed, as it takes less than 30 seconds to re-bias once you change it. Have to read it again, but I think the manual says you don't even have to put it in standby to do this.
So add that amp color to the passive tone stack and active eq/overdrive channels, and there's a huge palette there.

So mines in the shop.... At practice it got unnaturally hot and the fan never came on, seems the heat sensor that trips the fan on didn't work on mine straight from the factory. It didnt hurt the amp cos as soon as I noticed it I turned it off and took it in. but if I kept playing it for months im sure eventually it wouldve hurt something.

Not a problem. I thought it was 48.5 lbs. At least that's what the specs are.

There would have to be a particular tone that I couldn't live without for me to go through all that trouble with the bias. :)

Oh, sorry. You're right, just under 50 lbs. Well, you're still not worth it. *:0P I was thinking of the 410 neo, which is 65 or so I think. Just ordered one of those.
The tube bias thing is not a hassle, just up and down arrows to push for under or over-biasing, and waiting 30 seconds for it to adjust the voltages.

Not sure how available the 410 and 115 will be, especially for those of us outside the USA. The word I have been given is that Fender are keen for the 100T to be marketed with the 610 and the 300 with the 810. There is also the possibilty that with the shortage/increase in cost of neodymium that these speakers may not be around for too long so maybe snap them up while they are there??? Certainly the heads look fantastic sitting on top of the neo cabs - Iyesterday I was drooling over Chrisan's new rig before it was sent off to him. Hmmm, maybe I should get that 610 neo while it is still there....

Yeah, chrisan, you are making me think seriously. I know Greer well and he has looked after me over many years. Lucky sod gets flown to Namm every year!
Eyeballkid, that is a bit of a worry that the fan heat sensor didn't work - might be the first reported case of an issue with the amp. I'm not sure that I have ever heard the fan come on on mine....which doesn't mean it hasn't.....:hmm:

Well Chris, I did it! Bought the 610 neo cab as well! Appalling reason really - more a case of "pimp my amp" and going for the bling factor :o. The other reason was that it is so light, on the website they list it as under 90 pounds but it is actually only 77 and such an easy schlep. Got a jam on Friday to give it a workout. I traded a tele that I seldom play so it was pretty much a straight swap.
I still have the SVT and Berg 610 for really loud gigs, but I am picking the neo 610 will cover most gigs with the bassman 100T on top of it.

Wow Tim, what's gonna happen to the NV610 now?? U are already favouring the NV215 over it, or so it seems. (I know I did) :)
Keeping both? Or will there be a lucky NV610 owning Kiwi in the near future?
Lovely choice to have I must say.
After dumbly selling my NV215, I'm really liking my new to me NV412. Really is like a cross between the NV610 & NV215.

You are asking the same questions as I have been, Rod. The Bergantino NV215 ain't going anywhere in a hurry, that's for sure. The Orange AD200 fits the NV215 like a glove. The Bassman has to go with the Fender 610 cab. The NV610 is the obvious partner for the ST VR - if one goes both go. Realistically one pairing is superfluous, but I often find down the track I wished I had kept something. You are right, though, I seem to have gone off the Berg NV610.
Funny thing though, all this gear buying on my part has come about while my guitarist has had his wrist in plaster for the past few months, and consequently my only gigs have been the odd sub. Must come from frustration - I supppose looking at it this way I would be saving myself money if I went out and gigged for free!
