Not to derail the current cab vein of this conversation.... I run mine through a Bergantino NV610 and my Bassman 500 through a Neo Pro 410 just FYI.... but I am really digging the two channel option of the amp in that I run my passive AVRI P's with flats and Rics through the vintage side and my active MM basses and my Jazz basses through the modern side where I can add more contour to the EQ. I basically have a two amps in one which has been "offered" on many amplifier platforms but I feel that this is the first truly usable dual amp setup I have had.

Your exactly right...the SB and it's two channels gives you so much versatility, it's a great amp.
I'm pretty much the same. A P bass sounds just beautiful thru that vintage channel. For my Ric (& 77 G3 Gibson ) I'll use the same vintage channel but pull the DEEP switch on it. Just superb!
ok.. found out what the problem was with the amp.. V1 tube was bad..
Cool. Glad it's an easy fix. What did you replace it with? I swapped mine with 5751 NOS .. dang. ..can't remember what sort. . I'd have to either look in the amp or go back thru this thread
Iirc I got an even smoother tone and slightly sweeter OD...IMO.
He put a groove tube in there.. i have an old Ei pre war Yugo German made Telefunken clone that i am going to put in there.

Oh.. the repair was 25 bucks for the bench fee, he let me have the tube.

I haven't seen many used SB300's for sale. New, you can get them for somewhat less than the $1799 they retail for... got mine through Sweetwater for, I think, around $1525 after asking for their best price.

I was extremely nervous about buying a rig without trying it, and none of the retailers in my area were willing to get any in stock without me paying first. I'd like to thank everyone in this thread and in this forum for helping me research and decide. I first started looking at Class D vs. Tube, and after a lot of online research and soul-searching, decided I wanted to go all-tube. Reading this thread is one of the primary reasons I chose the Super Bassman. Thanks everyone here for the help. BTW, the amp is amazing and all of my concerns have vanished. Here she is:

Congrats on the new rig! You can't go wrong with the SB! The 410neo is a great cabinet too, super punchy!
In the solid state world, flat was usually "knobs at 12 o-clock", I was interested to learn about the "Fender Tone Stack" of 2-10-2. Of course everything (environmentals, room size, bass, cables, ears, etc.) affects amp settings, but after a few hours with this amp, I have found a sweet spot for my tone (without using plugs) for alone-time practice. I'll have to wait a week to see how it sits in the mix at rehearsal with the rest of the band. My main axe is a MusicMan Stingray 5, so I'm going through Input 2 for that active -6db pad.

I rediscovered my love for my Stingray 5 when I got the SB300.
I found that the overdrive channel reacted much better to the SR5 with the switch in the neck position for more mids. On the vintage channel I ran it in parallel (bridge position of rthe switch). However, how saturated you are running ch 2 will impact on how that works for you.

Awesome! Yes I usually run my SR5 with the pickup switch in the neck position all the time for a bit punchier, growlier tone... but with this amp I may start switching positions depending on the song! Like the SB300, it's hard to get a bad tone from an SR5.
I like my SR5 pup in the bridge pos... and tbh...thru the SB300 I've not found any bass that doesn't sound the best it ever has.
