I tried a few different ones in mine a while ago, testing for overdrive sounds.
There were very minor differences at max drive, certainly not enough to hear in a band context. Somewhat more difference at 50% drive for some reason. I never got around to testing them completely clean.
I ended up going back to the originals.

it's been my experience - and IIRC others on this thread as well - that the stock tubes supplied by Fender do a great job. I've not done any tube rolling, I'm quite happy with the stock tubes.

Agree. Fender did a great job with the stock GT tubes...and probly designed it TO sound great WITH those tubes too.
But I certainly noticed a smoother OD with the 5751s I put in. Others may not tho...as I always say. . Each to their own.
They worked for me.

Well as much as as i liked it with what was in it, not really trying to "roll" tubes, but it is more about using what i have on hand. If i have to barrow one from the Rumble amp.. i will

Hey. ..if it sounds good with GT tubes in. ... what's to argue. They're cheap and seem to work well. I've certainly got no probs with em. Loved my SB300 with the stock tubes. Still got the stock 6550s in. . Sounds better than any other amp ever!

Had the SB and 410neos out at last weekends gig, sounded really good. I ended up using channel 2 with just a touch of gain added in.

Have played a few decent size club gigs this month. First one I ran the SBM through my 410, second through another bassist's Ampeg fridge. Have to say I much preferred the tone through the Fender cab. Obviously the bonus of the 810 is it gets speakers closer to ear level, so the plan down the track will probably to get a second 410. No problems what so ever with the 410 keeping up volume wise though (with good FOH support).

You know, I tried my SB on top of my ampeg 610hlf the other day. Much to my surprise it did not sound very good. It sounded very muddy...I'm guessing I could of played with the eq longer but the mids and highs were just not there. With the same settings volume and master it was really quiet...That being said the ampeg 610hlf is killer sounding with my ampeg v4b...thru it. The 610 can get the 810 vibe pretty close.

The fender cabs seem to be voiced for the SB, with The 410 I could hear everything, with both 410 cabs it's amazing sounding! Same volume settings on the SB it seemed louder thru the fender cabs. I think there is something to be said...that to some extent cabs are voiced to their respective heads. In my case the SB on fender cabs come alive, the v4b on the 610 it comes alive.

Down_low...you will love a second 410 neo, I can get thru gigs with a single 410 but as you said having the second cab up high, closer to ear level is nice!

I loved the SB thru the SVT810E but I think it's better thru the Bassman cabs. Thru 2 115s it's stoopid loud. They're efficient beggers!

Yes.. i like my though the single 15's i have.. on another note Rod, i finally got a chance to change out the V1 and V2 tubes.. oh what a difference it made.. it woke it up! More low mids too!

While it no means sounds bad through the Ampeg it really shines through the Fender. Also of note I recently tried my
Trace Elliot V6 and my Orange Terror Bass 500 through the Fender cab and the amps sounded better than they ever have though anything else.
But the Super Bassman through the 610 Neo is a thing of (matched) beauty.

And the Super Bassman into the Fender 810 neo is a thing of awesome aural beauty. As I have posted before, I was surprised to hear such a difference between the 810 neo and the 610 neo. The 610 felt a bit more "vintage" to me, while the 810 seems to be a bit stronger in the upper mids but may be something to do with the extra height. The 810 cranked on an outdoor stage is very special.

That's the same as my rig. Through the modern channel i think it sounds quite good through the 6x10 ( better than the 8x10 at our rehearsal room) ......Having said that,the only other cab I've tried the SB through is my epifani 2x12 and a ABM 4x10. Need to try the fender 610 (gassing)

interesting. I have a couple of those in the tube closet, will have to try them out. I love how those tubes sound in a guitar amp with Celestion Greenbacks.
