I was swapping out from a SVT4Pro so I wanted something that could compete pound for pound. Bought it basically unheard, and while the 4 was Good, the 300 is special. Do not regret it one bit.

SB 300 comes out to play tonight - been a few weeks. The 610 Neo gets the gig though, on a big stage, so it will be nice to open it up!
Is it normal for these to have a low volume buzz? It's the first thing I noticed when I turned it on. I thought maybe it's the sound of the fan, but it's pretty annoying. I searched and found one other post asking the same thing but that person had other issues. My SB seems to work great except for the constant buzz with or w/o a bass plugged in. I tried a different power cable but no luck. It's not very loud nor does it increase if the volume is turned up but it's far from dead silent.
Not an issue I have ever noticed with mine. Could be an earth issue in your house - have you tried it in a different house/venue?
Haven't had the chance yet, but I will be taking it to a venue tomorrow night. I am in a older style home that is raised off the ground. I haven't had a similar problem with any of my solid or hybrid amps due to that, but this is a very different animal so to speak. Thanks for the reply.
I have actually noticed the same thing with my SB, I get a soft buzz as you described. I've noticed the buzz at multiple locations including my house. My v4b is silent at my house and anywhere else...so I'm starting to wonder if I have an issue with the SB?
Is it coming through the speakers, or coming out of the head case itself? If the latter, it is perfectly normal to hear the fan wind up to speed and make a bit of noise while the amp is turned on - there's 300w worth of tubes running at several hundred degrees steady state. You shouldn't hear it coming through your cabinetry though.

Problem solved. The fan was the source of the excessive agitating buzz but oddly enough the sound of the fan intensified when the back grille was screwed all the way down. I loosened the back grille now the fan sounds normal and the annoying buzz is gone. Now I can enjoy the thing.
To check pre tubes. ..from sketchy memory here. . Take front grille off. Swap the 2 12ax7s around. See if any unwanted noise follows.
It's a good idea to have a spare 12ax7 handy anyway. And they're cheap.

Bad capacitors. That's the classic cause of that hum buzz in an otherwise perfect amp
Question for you fender pro neo cab users...
Past couple gigs it seems I struggled getting a good thick sound/tone from my SB and 2x 410 pro neo cabs, it's seemed thin and lack any low mid punch. When I turn the bass up or pull the deep switch it seems to get boomy rather than deep thick bass I'm used to with an ampeg as reference. I'm not sure if it the combination of SB and cabs or if its just the 410 neo cabs causing this thin sound? I'm putting the neo cabs up for sale
and looking for an ampeg 810 most likely as I've never had this issues with big heavy cabs. It's a bummer as they are easy move and sound great at low volume but when pushed it seems to just not sit well for me in the mix. Has anyone else experience this with their neo pro cabs or neo cabs in general?

Are you saying you used to get good thick bass with these cabs, but now you don't or your never have since you've had them?
I have Neo 410 and 610, and this has never been an issue for me with the SB300 or any other head with these cabs
I've just one Neo 410 but haven't had any issues at all with my SB300 except when I plugged it into the EXT output but that's user error
In general...I'm comparing it against my Ampeg 610 cab and v4b and it to my ears seems to be a thinner sound when A/B them...I'm guessing it's more the cab then the head, I'm finding out cabs really color tone more than I thought.
I'm a long time user ( and lover) of the Ampeg 810. Much prefer the sound of my Fender 610 neo. I have used the Super Bassman, Trace Elliot V6, and Orange Terror 500 through both.
The Fender somehow manages to fill the room with sound and makes subtle changes in eq more articulate than the Ampeg.
