I've never seen either one, except on TV, so I'm not sure which it is. I thought it was the SB 300. I've been a Fender fan boy for about fifty years, and I like that they are getting back into the big bass amp business.

I thought the 100T might be less deep (front to back-not tonally) than the SB300. It actually surprised me when I got my Super Bassman, that it was as deep as it is, but, realistically, it ain't surprising at all. All that "stuff" has to go somewhere eh? (Note my use of technical jargon):D
I'm playing a Dr's corporate function tonight, easy access- 3rd floor, but good service elevator & no stairs - so it's the SUPER BASSMAN > Bergantino NV412 with my RW-P with TI flats & Ric 4004c Cheyenne with SS rounds.
Sounded gorgeous at soundcheck, so looking forward to the gig tonight.
Tomorrow night it's a party with 300ppl in the local Polish Club-which hasn't been renovated since the late '70's & so has carpet on walls, lotsa different levels & soft furnishings = excellent sound in there. Just our own Dynacord pwrd desk > JBL 115's. So, no bass, guitar in PA- just a touch of kick & a cuppla overheads for drums & vocals in FOH PA.
I Love doing these, as we've all been doing this so long, we know how to get a good balance & the SB300> NV412 = punch city & tube gooee-ness :thumbup::D

Got to agree with ya, Rod. Just for a change I took the 100T to band practice today, instead of the SB300 which I always use, and we all noticed the missing weight and power behind the notes. The 100T is a great amp but the 300 is just a whole step up from it. To be honest, I can only really see me using the 100T in the (rare) studio visit now or for practice at home.
The SB300 just puts a smile right across your dial :D

While I've not played the 100T, so cannot comment between the two, the "WEIGHT" behind each note (as you say) is phenomenal! I don't think I've experienced anything like it B4 :confused:
Sure my old '91 SVT-II had heaps of "ooomph" but this Super Bassman seems in another league. :o (flame suit ON. Hard to describe, but it really hammers & still retains its "vintage" channel gooey-ness- then ya got all the other channel's options......

I'm just between soundcheck & gig right now. Should be a fun one. Brought my tapewound loaded '77 G3 & A-C EUT5 (the Alleva-Copollo EUT5's SUCH a good bass. Any probs at all (room acoustics, muddy stage sound-whatever) this'll attend to 90% of em. So with such an amp as the SB300........:cool:
All's sweet & I can concentrate on the groove:p

The Fender has 2 different channels. One is vintage & one is overdrive. I've just had mine for a day but my take on it is like having an amp that can be run either passive or active. The variety of sounds are outstanding for a tube amp. The Traynor is still a great amp but the Fender has a bit more going on.

Daniel, if you ever pop over the range to Hawkes Bay you are very welcome to come and try my SB300. By the way, the new Berg 115 is out in the States now, so it should be available Downunder soon if you are still interested in my GK neo 115.

i'm sorry, but i haven't read this whole thread, and i apologize if this has been asked & answered....but

is it ok to run the FSB WITHOUT a cab connected if the SPEAKER OUTPUT selector switch on the back is set to "Mute"?

the manual implies this is ok, but i just wanted to make sure

Yeah, that's it mainly.
Almost 3 channels,-sort of.
Vintage, "overdrive" & by just turning the blend control on the overdrive channel, you can quickly adjust from clean to dirty on that channel.

However, the engineers at Fender now tell me that if the Speaker Output is set to Mute, the Super Bassman can be safely operated without a load (meaning, without a speaker attached). There is no high voltage power supply to the output section when the Speaker Output is set to Mute, and you are good to go.
