The Fender Super Bassman 300 thread

Greetings from the North,

The Sennheiser MD421 is an outstanding bass mic. I've preferred using them in the studio and for live situations when ideal. In fact I not only used them when provided I went out and bought my own and recommend them to discerning bass players everywhere ;)

I always loved md421 as well.
Back in the days when I wa on Tour I always had a md421 from our technician.
I was an Ampeg PBass guy.
But in the last couple of years I recognised other good bass sounds.
I played some showes with an ac30 in it was beautiful.

So I thought there are more microphones beside the md421 which has a cool vibe.

Maybe there is nothing better for bass than md421.

New amp day! Replacing my Ampeg svt4pro and 410hlf with this. Been playing it for a few hours and really loving it.

Nice. Is that the 410 cab? I use the 115s. Love em

It is! I've read every post of this thread and your dedication to the super bassman with 15s is incredible haha. If I stumble on a good deal for a new 15 I'll snag one to stack it with for bigger shows. Likely keep one cab home and one at my rehearsal space so I can use my amp more easily in both places. Keeping an eye out.

The vintage channel has something a really like about it but I think the modern is gonna sit better in my band. I play old-school hardcore punk so the clarity of channel one doesn't quite work. I managed to get close to the same EQ on channel 2 and added some gain to is to smooth it. Really really nice sounding rig

I don’t have the most extensive experience of playing thru an array of high end tube or solid state amps but Fender SB300 sitting atop my Mesa PH410 is the best rig I’ve ever played through! It sounds mighty thunderous and I don’t know how my collie likes to sleep next to it.

Thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread, I read every single page and it’s been a blast of a journey. Thanks especially to my fellow countryman @rodl2005, you have been totally instrumental!

Dang! Makes me wish there was easy access to my gig tonite. Altho it's still great, there's nothing like taking the SB300

Lovely basses there too!

Haha, I know what you mean. My SB300+Mesa rig is heavy enough to sink Titanic!! Luckily for me this is a home rig😂

I take my Bassman500 and my EA NL210 cab for jam sessions and it meets my needs just fine 👌(currently no gigs).

Given that you have a lot to do with my great acquisition, I shall buy you a drink or two next time you are in Melbourne. I can only offer you cheap and nasties ok? None of that craft beers I can no longer afford 😢😂🥃

😁😁😁👍👍👍

there's not many of the "craft" beers that I'm happy drinking anyway.
