Thanks for this review! As much as some love tube amps for the furry, overdriven sounds that are available, I love tubes for the clean sound. There's something more three dimensional about a clean tube sound.

so what kind of channel volume and master volume settings do you guys find you need live?
my fender 300 pro lives with the channel volumes on like 3-4 and master about 3-4 and that hangs solidly in loud rock bands.
is this the same, or different?

I looked into this myself earlier this year and was able to find product codes for the SB300, 6x10neo and 115neo cabs in blonde/oxblood. Its kind of tricky, but you can usually find the correct product codes for these on Sweetwater (no affiliation)

I tend to sit somewhere between 4 - 5 on each. On a related matter I tried the master volume on ten yesterday, using the gain control alone to set volume. I was trying out my new Bergantino NV115 with the SB 300 but couldn't come to any definitive conclusion as it was just in my outside room and there was too much power available for a small room. I was curious about this as with the 100T setting the master on ten and gain on five with the NV115 really does bring out a great, powerful and clean sound.

At my medium-sized club gig I mostly use the Vintage channel and have it set between 5 and 6. The MVwill be set at 6, perhaps a tad higher but not by much.
When I use the rig a home the pre is set to just under 4 as is the MV

Hope you can see my settings on this pic. The Studio Bass 200 amp is on top, but the settings on the Super Bassman are from the last gig -when I used the 2 modded PF115HE cabs.

If you can't see em:- Master 2.5.
Modern Channel:-gain 5.5.
Blend 3.5.
Volume 2.5
Bass 6.
Mid freq 6.5. Level 7
Treble 6.
Vintage Channel:-
Volume 7
Bass 5
Mid 8.5
Treble 3.5
I couldn't believe the master vol was only on 2.5 :eek:
This night I didn't switch between channels as I usually do. I'd forgotten my footswitch. :o But I did use the modern Channel for a couple of songs.
When I use just 1 x 15" the master vol goes up around 5-6

Only one gig this weekend & it's a small Hall jazz/Blues gig with li'l room onstage. So it'll be my TH500 & one PF115HE rig. Damn!
Next Tues tho, the country band I recently joined are moving our practices to a new prac room. With a PA supplied.
So the Super Bassman will get a run there. :p:thumbup: Probly with one PF115HE cab or perhaps 2 x AE112's.

Finished prac with the SB300 & 1 × PF115HE. We were fairly loud, but drummer wasn't hitting real hard ( & of course not mic'd)
Great to note I had the master vol up around 6 for some nice crunch when digging in. :D (This is why I didn't get the 100T)
I used both channels-the Drive channel for a bit more crunch when needed in a couple songs & even for a more upfront mid focused time without any drive Goin on.
I'll take a pic of the settings tomorrow.

Vintage channel - well that just sounds awesome always. Was getting a nice crunchy break up when I dug in.
Was using my 62 AVRI P bass with tapes and RW-P with TI flats.
