The Fender Super Bassman 300 thread

I personally would always take 410s over a 610 or 810... easier to work with, easier to fit into vehicles, more flexible for varying sized gigs. If 65# is bad, try an Orange PPC412 or OBC410. Both are around 100# :)

Now my dilema is what exactly I want. Black and Silver, or Blonde/Oxblood, do I want the 410, or the 610? First world problems as you can see. I have been told the 410 sounds like the 610, but the difference to me is being able to pop the amp on top of the cab and roll it in, vs carry them seperately.

Then there is always the idea of adding a 2nd 410 later... See what I mean, I do love how the Head looks on top of the 610 though. Astheticly that would be my choice. But one trip from the car ( in most cases) seems much nicer to me then 2. 65lbs is no joke either. hrrrummpff!

Thanks for the input. I like the idea of 2-410s myself. 100lbs??? Thats devotion to tone in my humble opinion. I dont know if I would weekend gig a 100lb head, you are asking for back surgery!!! I am sure its worth it though. :bassist:

Edit, realized you are speaking about cabs, I actually owned a pair of Ampeg BXT410 cabs that were 110lbs a piece. Luckily though, they had casters. makes that a lot easier. Just had to pick those bad boys up to put them in the car..

When I was visiting Bass Central last fall, the guys there said that the 610 was way better than the 410. The 610 has separate chambers (so they tell me).

With that, I decided to get an Audiokinesis TC115-8 to pair with mine. I borrowed that cab from a friend for a gig and used my SB300 and it was absolutely wonderful and it only weighs 36 lbs. Of course it doesn't have that sexy look to it. :D

I was leaning toward the Berg HD410 after watching the Bass Chicago vid on youtube but it's 88 lbs.

I like the look of the matching cabs, even though the bergs sound great. Thanks for the input though.

610 is different then the 410 huh? That would explain the reason for the big price difference. Originally thats what i wanted was the 610, i just then thought about having to move it around. But if the tone is that much better then its an easy choice.

Anyone directly compaired the Fender Neo 610 and 410? care to share your input?

The 610 is a wonderful speaker and to my ears preferable to the Berg NV610!!! (I owned both together for a while).
I knew that the 610 had separate chambers and had always assumed that the 410 did also. This alone would point me to the 610 if it is true.

I would think those cabs can handle that tuning no problem. Drop C isn't even to 5 string territory yet.

I've played in drop A and my cabs have handled it. They are Ampeg cabs though so I don't know what that's worth.

I love the look though!!

Yea. I agree. I had a Fender 810 Pro. Few years back and if I would tune to Drop C, it shook everything in sight and still had great definition.

I'm assuming the new Bassman cabs are built and tuned similar to the way those 810 Pros were.

Yes, its always on and very quiet. Strangely, I had a 100t and it ran hot as hell and the fan NEVER came on and fender told me that by design I probably never would catch it being engaged and the 300 runs MUCH cooler and it always has the fan engaged at a low level.

i recently bought a used super bassman 300 with a matching fender 810 for a very good price and i totally love that rig. tone- and look-wise. before that i owned an orange ad200b with 410/115, which i also liked very much but i absolutely prefer the bassman. it delivers a perect punchy bright and big clean tone and all varieties of overdrive/distortion/fuzz i can imagine.

if i would have bought new i´d taken the 610 because i think it is big enough for almost most venues and it is easier to transport than the 810. now i own the 810 which sounds just fantastic and i almost get wet when i see it in the practice room .... my mates will have to help carry it. wheight-wise it is not such a big problem at slightly more than 50kg but the dimensions ....

all in all a wonderful rig and i really hope that it will get some stagetime this year!

Hey guys,

I'm thinking about jumping back into the fray again with the SB300. I had one about a year ago but let it go in a fit of GAS.

Right now I'm rocking a DB751 and/or SVT into an 810E and Berg NV610. My question is you guys that are running the Fender 810 Neo cab....how do you like it? I like the fact it's "only" about 115 lbs. Seems very manageable. If the Fender 810 a sealed cab? If not, does it do that sealed cab vibe (tight, punchy, rolled off lows)?

I do love my 810E but looking for something of a little different vibe. The 810E tends to color everything (to my ears at least) Ampeg, not that it's a bad thing. Any thoughts, greatly appreciated!

i used my SB300 every night this weekend. 3 completely different venues. A hall, a smaller restraunt type room, and a club with a stage were I got to try out the DI. It preformed amazingly in every situation. I had (chose) to use the active channel w in the hall and the small room. Some small eq adjustments went a long way. With the DI I used the vintage channel with a 4/ 8/ 4 setting. Perfect.
I coudn't bring my GK 4x12 Neo. I used a ampeg 8x10 instead. It sounded nice. But I really missed the 4x12. It lost a lot of definition. I'm sure some cats prefer that.
I'm super curious on how the Fender 6x10 Neo sounds VS the GK 4x12. Anyone know? I know thats a long shot.
