The Fender Super Bassman 300 thread

Husky the Fender 810 neo is Ported and has a tweeter. From all reports these are great cabs. I use a NV412 sealed mainly but would love to try the 610 neo Fender. The 810 would just cramp me for size in packing my truck. As much as I'd love an 810. 😆😯😯
I did a Yacht Club party last Sat. SB300 into a single 3015 loaded PF115HE. I should've take the 2 x 115s but didn't have time to g go get the other.
The SB300 performed beautifully and it was real fun smashing that 115 with a heap of power. 😆😆
300 people, cavernous room and it kept up easily.
2 x15s - sure, even nicer but. .... fun night.
No bass in PA. Cranked the SB300 on about 8 vol & 7 Master. Switched between vintage & modern channels. Even used the modern channel clean a couple of times for a nice slap tone. Then ran the BLEND round to disk in some sweet crunch.
This is just a magnificent amp.

No probs. Imo the Super Bassman 300 has SUCH a lush thick tubey tone it'd sound effin fantastic into that Ported 810 as well as I to a sealed cab.

Does anybody in Canada have an SB300 and a matching cab in blonde/oxblood?
I've been waiting three days to get an answer from Long & McQuade about availability. They don't have a stock number in their system for the blonde and they are waiting on a reply from a Fender rep.
I was just about to buy a black one with a 4x10 cab right off the showroom floor when I found out they come in blonde. The anticipation is driving me mad.
Still the black one looks great, too.

Nice rig (SB into Ampeg). For kicks, I spent an hour or so at GC trying a 100T into different cabs. Tried an Ampeg 410, PF115 and Fender NEO 610. Through the Ampeg 410, it sounded very much like an SVT. Made me owner what the Super through an 810 would sound like! I don't need another big cab, but like the SB into Ampeg a lot.
Did this all with a Custom Shop 59 P with flats. Been looking for a Fender P to compliment my Sadowsky. If I had the coin, it would be mine. Effin' fantastic!

Custom Shop 59 P with flats is my go to bass, Alexander, and sounds great into both the 100T and the SB300. These amps really nail that old time tubey sound with the vintage channel, but then are so versatile also with the overdrive channel (which I seldom use for overdrive, rather I use it for its expanded eq possibilities). The SB300 loves my Bergantino NV215, but I must say it is also a fine match with the Fender 610 - especially for a rock gig.

Was such a busy week that I was tempted to use my Shuttle but the Super Bassman is just SO NICE.

During the 1st song of the last set I got a distorted sound with a Hi pitched whistle noise. 😞 Was still gutsy & loud. I looked round back at the bias lights & one was orange.
By the next by the next song it was sounding great again. 😎
After the set the lights were all green again.

The amp doing what it's supposed to do. .. a bad tube so the amp adjusted itself? ?
That tube is Probly on its way out etc etc. ..?
Re buying a new 6550 or pair of. . So I buy the sane as what's in there or go for another more highly regarded 6550 or pair ??

I use mine today with an NV412 and the tone is just unbelievable - addicting, really. Was a good move in the right direction for me as I was wanting a tube/sealed cab rig for my old school country/rock/blues band. The only bass I have right now is my Sadowsky RV4 and it kills. But been contemplating a P Bass for years. The 59 CS has been the only one that has spoken to me this far. I'm in the middle of a nasty divorce right now, so another bass is out of the question, but maybe one day. That will give me a pretty sick old school rig...

Had another player that hopped on the rig and we both agreed that it sounded better in the mix, in the room, than on stage. The tone definitely took on a different shape out in the audience, and for the better I might add.

I thought the light was supposed to go amber when a tube is getting weak, then red when dead. Green is go!
Seriously considering the SB300 and want to pair it with 2 tweeterless, 1x15 cabs. Considering Bag End. Anyone employing tweeterless, 15's with their SB300? Of course I cook just turn down the tweeter as well.

It sounds great with every cab I've tried it with. I use two 3015 loaded PF115HE cabs sometimes. Sounds huge. Awesome. One would be enough 90% of the time but 2 of these 15s is a monster. 😎😎😎
