a rather weird bass i guess ;)
i took some cheap wood from the hardwarestore, i think is was either spruce or pine plywood, cut it right, chambered it and painted the whole thing orange. then, i had an old neck lying around my room. i pulled out the frets, painted the fretboard dark red, as well as all of the hardware, and sealed it with hardwood floor finish. the back of a cupboard is now the pickguard and a guitar humbucker took its place by the neck. some chromes to complete the mellow sound.

et voila.

if you like to hear it, check this youtube video

Brilliant! Just listened to the video. Thanks for the inspiration...I am now on a quest to build my own!

Is it possible that I have found my prefered calling? I know that I have only had my new bass for a day, but fretless just feels so right. I have good natural intonation. I feel like i finally have the right tool in hand when i play and practice. anyone experience this?

In.

It's hard to describe without sounding hokey, but fretless just feels right for me. I went from guitar to fretless bass, and from day one I knew FB was so much more expressive, freeing, organic!?

It has tempted me to take a crack at a godin glissentar a few times, but I don't have to time to invest in skills it would take to play one of those.
