The Fretless Club (Part IV)

Why not try, after 3, putting pinky on the 4th or b5 and sliding pinky to 5?

I actually tried this the other night after asking my original question . I believe i may be over thinking it and trying to slide too far too get that mwah sound. I've always said "less is more" but here i am trying to accentuate something. :eyebrow:

Alternatively, after 1, try the gliss between 2 or m3 to M3 with pinky on the same string as 1 then hitting 5 with index (or middle) on the next higher string?

This is the kind of thing i need to practice. Thank you. I've gotten too locked into the arpeggio patterns that i know well so as to keep position (especially lately as i try to practice and gig with less looking at the fretboard) and forget to use those that move up and down the neck more rather than across the board.

Maybe - a m3 is a long way to gliss. If you don't allow sufficient time it can sound comical or cheesy, and if you don't nail the intonation at the end it can just sound bad. Sometimes a short gliss or a slurred grace note with deep vibrato at the end is more mwah than the long slide...
And the rate of slide makes a huge difference. Should you...
- move quickly at the start then slow down as you approach the end...
- move slow and deliberate over the whole thing...
- do it all as quickly as possible...
- slow down a bit over the intermediate halftones...
I don't think you are overthinking it at all. This type of deliberate thinking leads to the development of instinct later, IMHO...

I'm new to TB and would love to have a number.
I don't have any spectacular basses, but I do have pics.
Thanks!

Lookie what I just found on Ibanez's website! I didn't know they made a 6 string Portamento. I have a Gary Willis GWB-35 and I have kind of thought about the Portamento for a while. The Portamento seems to be so similar to what I already have. It seems to fit in the same niche so that I just couldn't make the jump.... But this is new. I think I have a bad case of GAS. I never really thought too much about 6 string, but damn this thing is sexy.
