actually i made it myself, radiused it with a neck sanding block and cut out teh slots for the pickups with a jigsaw. The sanding suck and I'm sure there was a better way to do it, took me something like 12 hours of sanding using sandpaper because the initial block of would was almost a 1/4in thicker than it needed to be :scowl:

An old Samick bass, bought just to de-fret...
put about 10 coats of lacquer on it, with sanding in between, for 2 feet away you can't tell it used to have lines, and from the side it still has dots and lines, just a bit easier to play that way...
and for some reason it looks pink-ish, while in reality it's very red...

Ok, that does it. I'm definitely going to get a fretless neck for this

It's not seen a lot of use recently, partly because it's got a fat neck, and partly because it gets passed over in favour of my fretless basses. Seeing your pics persuades me the colours will work.

I just ordered some flatwounds for mine, hard to leave the bass alone(the lacquer needs to dry for about a week.... for optimum strength)

Add me to the fretless list. I make all my own basses, here's one: curly maple top over a walnut body, epoxied rosewood fb, pu covers and knobs. Nordstrand NJ4SE PUs and a Ghost Piezo bridge

thanks, if I can say one thing about the bass is that it sound's even better than it looks and it certainly growls

Lol, thanks! I made em from normal dice; apparently dice are made from abnormally strong poly- material: I did not know this till it took me a half hour to drill the first one!
K.Ross - IIRC Dave posted about that build on this forum (or another). Do you have digital pics? Maybe Dave has some he can share, I don't see it on his website. Also, I think you're already in the club, I have a KENT ROSS at number 95.
Got my first fretless a few weeks ago (I know .....I know.....lines are like training wheels - but I do not care.....I am learning)
PS - I LOVE the sound it has....I Finally have the "mwah" I am looking for!
