Switching from Rotosound Swing 66 stainless to GHS Pressurewounds dramatically improved my tone. The fundamental and lower mids became stronger and that annoying string clack went away. Output is nicely balanced across the frequency spectrum. They are easy on your fingers which makes sliding easier and smoother sounding.
My other bass has Boomers which are great for rock but have a bit too much high end for my personal tastes. This is likely due to the all maple body and maple/bubinga neck construction. I'll give Brite Flats a try to tame that a bit, maybe even go to Precision Flats if needed.
I'm very impressed with the GHS strings, compared with the Rotos and Elixers I've tried so far.
Never used Rotos and never had the desire to. Elixirs were the 2nd set of strings I had ever tried. Ridiculously priced and the B string broke in two weeks. Had the tech check it out and chalked it up to a bad string.
I agree, GHS is putting out a quality product at a reasonable price. I am loving what I'm using right now!
Nice Valenti!!
Can't wait for the Pressure Wounds to get here (just ordered them yesterday).
I was gonna put pressure wound on my fretless but I think I really wanna go with rounds on that bass. Hmm... We shall see.
