The GHS Thread

Sigh.... Short scale and medium scale pressure wounds discontinued...

Yeah, I just heard that on Friday. News to me as well.

Dang, at this rate, this will be what GHS's entire bass string catalog will look like in a few months:

Boomers, 45-105. Long scale.

...aaand that's it.

As much as you jest, that set sells easily 100x more than anything else. In general terms, nickel strings sell better across the board.

We can come out with new stuff, market our tails off, but the sales figures will still determine what we have. If you WANT something, speak up. Tell your local dealer that you are looking for something they don't carry (it can be ANY brand), which goes farther along than us telling them there's a demand. Dealers (the ones I've talked to as of late) are by and large hesitant of anything new and unless they have people coming in requesting it, they're not going for it.

I wasn't joking. I figured that set outsells everything else GHS has 100 to 1, which is why I assume that set will be the only one left!

This is exactly why I haven't bought strings locally in over 20 years. All the stores around me stock a few sets...D'Addario, Boomers, Elixir. 45-105. Nickel. They all are priced almost double what they are at bassstringsonline.com

They say they can order other sets, but it takes about a week. I can get them in 2 days at half the price so why bother?

That's OK with me...I've been using Boomers, 45-105 long scale for probably over 20 years... I tried the Pressure Wounds and thought they sounded dead, kinda like a 2 year old set of Boomers

GHS Precisions. Labellawhat?

I actually had a set of LaBella Deep Talkin' Flats on a bass for about a month (mid 70s Aria II P Bass), to get an idea of the characteristics of them. They are a very nice string, to be sure.

I just went through two defective DR Fat Beams A strings in a row. Ordered a set of GHS Super Steels. Hoping for the best! :)

The Super Steels were the first set I tried here (yeah, I didn't come in through Boomers, like many). I like the SS, as I feel the tone has a lot more punch and bottom to it than other steel strings I tried.
