I agree. I spent a lot of time in Japan, and I admire their "forward thinking" (they really do think decades ahead instead of years), and I love the people, but I don't like the "corporate slave" mentality they have. Sure, they're very well paid, but they work severe hours. Stuff that, life's too short.
Of course its all subjective to ones tastes, but Dominos has had a huge turnaround in quality and taste over the last 2 or so years.
I used to avoid them like the plague. Now theyre not so bad, better than most of the big commercial pizza chains.
I don't know if there's one near you, Matticus, but Round Table kicks @$$ over most of the big chains for delivery pizzas.
the only time i find dominos even in the ballpark of being edible is when i'm obliterated drunk.
Eh, Ive always found Round Table hit or miss.
There's a local chain near by where each store is named after its location "Baldwin Park Pizza Co" "Hacienda Heights Pizza Co" etc. that makes some of the best pizza around, though its a bit pricey so I dont buy it too often.
Then theres the "3.99 Pizza Co." with two locations near my house that makes some pretty good cheap pizza.
I grew up eating Little Ceasars, so they'll always have a spot in my heart, even if I rarely buy from them.
Dominos was a life saver when I lived in Hacienda Heights, as there were many drunken nights when I got hungry and didnt want to cook and could order 2 medium 2 topping pizzas for $12 and have them delivered in about 20 minutes.
@matante If you keep a buzz cut like I do get a set of clippers for $20 last you for years. I had one set of Osters for about 15 years that I just replaced last year. I cut my hair once a month imagine how much dough I saved.
Round Table rules there are so feww around here. Have you been to 85 Degrees bakery? I think I asked you that already. Cocunut cake I can eat that all day.
Hmmm...the one by me (La Canada) is always great. Their delivery times, however, have been inconsistent recently.
Small, local places are often where the real gold is found.
Long ago, when you went to fuel up your car, they'd check your oil & tire inflation while pumping the gas.
We still have that here in very few places, but you have to pay a little extra for the fuel--they build it in to that price.
Ive kept a buzz cut for about 6 years now, always do it myself. Ive spent $0 on hair maintenance in that time.
ONe just recently opened up nearby, but I havent been yet. Coconut cake sounds good.
If my hairline continues to dissolve, I might have to do this at some point in the not-too-distant future.
Yes the majority of us have that coming. I will not rock a cul-de-sac.
Side story: the guitarist from Black Lips was playing aconcert with a hat on. Toward the end of the show he took it off & revealed taht he shaved his head to a culdesac on purpose--the rest of his hair was med length. So funny.

That's the thing, I don't have a buzz cut. It's the standard businessman/anchorman style. I get a much better and faster cut when I pay $15 than I do when I pay $60.
Regarding food, I think those who who've traveled around know that some of the best food is good, cheap, and fast: street tacos in Mexico, churrasco in Brazil, falafels in Lebanon, etc...
It is inevitible for many of us. The growing number of hairs in the sink every morning is a brutal reminder that my days are numbered.
So what else is good, cheap, fast, a lot? Squiers & pizza & haircuts & falafels. Making coffee at home instead of fancy new hip coffee places. I cannot stand the joints with $7. cup of coffee. Old film cameras are as good as they ever was & getting cheaper on the evilbay. No one's mentioned Costco/Price Club yet.
