The Great Bass Preamp/DI Comparison

Regarding the NUX: Since the treble control works at 8K, would turning it either way even have much effect on the tone if you're playing thru a tweeterless cab that rolls off at 4k? How wide is the Q?

I'm guessing the 1st is Noble (I owned one at one time, but a while ago). It's the sound I'd probably gravitate toward when playing solo (of the two).

Good discussion. Regardless of my opinion on EQ points, (what would I know!) It's a good sounding Pre on the clip. I look forward to listening to the noble comparison shortly.

I haven't liked the clips or review vids I've seen of the Nux, until that BassTheWorld one that was posted here and in the main Nux thread. I think it's just that this one finally shows it being used with tones that I can identify with lol. I like what I'm hearing in that BassTheWorld video, and the features are wonderful, even knowing that there are bugs being worked out still. And it apparently feels really good when you put it up against your face!

Do we know if the NuX MLD DI can driver a Power Amp or powered speaker?

I'd love to be able to use it with my QSC K12 as a small rig or into my Bergantino IP310

Feels good on your face! That was funny. Being serious though, the product has a great feel and the enclosure does have a real nice finish. They whole thing definitely feels like a quality piece.

Well, to be fair Rene could slap a rubber band on a pizza box and it would sound good. But the preamp seems to have a ridiculous amount of features for the price.

There's a lot of truth that everything they do sounds great and it helps they have great production. I didn't look but wonder if any additional processing was done in that video.

Here's a clip of the Noble and NUX. Both preamps are set flat which means dials all the way counterclockwise on the NOBLE and centered at noon on the NUX.
Sadowsky Jazz set flat with VTC at about 50%. Bass directly into each device DI out into board to Garageband.

Which segment is the Noble and which is the NUX?

Honestly my guess is just Noble first and then Nux second. Not that there's much difference between them. Both were really nice sounding. Differences were just nuances I guess. ‍

1st clip has a smidge more lows, but it also has a little hiss in the background. 2nd is less hiss but I agree with what someone said earlier about bumping the lows a little in the second and it would be money. Both are great, and I can't really guess with any confidence.

I guess clip 1 is NuX, and clip 2 is Noble. The only reason for this guess is that the Noble is boost only in the lows, so if the Noble is Clip 1 and that's the most you can back the bottom end off, then it's extremely limited EQ wise

I would say NUX is first and Noble second, as Noble is fairly round and lacking definition to me.
