The Great Bass Preamp/DI Comparison

For me the NUX was an easy choice, I don't have it yet but it's on it's way.
First, it is available and in Australia, the price is right for my budget, 9v power, small footprint, top jacks, simple eq, I wasn't really after the drive but I'll take that as a bonus, it just ticks so many boxes.
I was close to ordering a starlifter but by the time it got to my door that $350 (US$) would cost me about 750 Australian clams and then I would have to upgrade my power supply.
I also got tired of waiting for some of the other unobtainium pedals out there that fit the above requirements ;)

For those who asked, I've been able to copy both the Jayme Lewis Minnow settings on my Q/Strip, with the help of @fivestringgecko which did a great work.
Please remember that in both settings I'm gonna show, bass is sligthly boosted (1 o'clock), treble is flat, high mids are set to 1k (around 10 o'clock) and slightly boosted (1 o'clock), HPF is on, LPF is off.

In the first setting low mids are set to 333hz (around 1 o'clock) and boosted (2 o'clock). I liked this sound and it's a good starting point for a good, clean and present tone. I've found the mids a little bit honky/boxy depending on the bass I was using, but again it's a good starting point.
In the second setting mids are set to 473hz (around 3 o'clock) and scooped (9/10 o'clock). I preferred this sound to be honest. It's more defined, smoother, and definitely more suited to my taste. It sounded good with my J and Stingray and it worked good with fingers, pick and slap.

So this showed up. Quick mod to operate at 115VAC. She's a hottie.

I've never tied to bump anything with a tube in it and I don't think I'll try it today.

I've heard that throwing them against a brick wall will damage them? Is that true??

Seriously, if you can't hear any noise while using the foot switch then you're prolly good to go.

What is your signal chain with the Edison?

I'll assume throwing them could indeed damage them. LOL!
This is prob gonna sound bad because my comps are cheap, but they sound good to me and I've had more expensive ones. Anywho, I'm running a p bass into a spectracomp or zoom ms60b (has many different style comps, but I like the rack and gray comp best) and then into the Edison before a Genzler Magellan.

That Spectracomp is really good especially for the money. Loved that little compressor.
